WCAG Widget Extension

Extension 2 weeks ago

Hello,

I'm working on a site and want to add an accessibility widget to meet basic WCAG standards. Since I don’t see one available from JoomShaper, I'm considering third-party options.

However, I’m unsure which extensions are trustworthy, lightweight, and safe for users and the site itself.

What do you think of this one? https://dj-extensions.com/my-account/downloads/dj-accesibility-light-joomla/pkg_djaccessibility_light_1.14

Thanks,

Thank you both.

I do understand its a tool and not a compliance measure. It's best to do compatibility checkers for WCAG. It was just a widget to help our guest improve their experience.

Hello Philip,

Thank you for reaching out. At JoomShaper we don’t officially recommend or endorse any third-party accessibility extensions, since they are developed and maintained outside of our ecosystem.

That said, many users do choose third-party tools like the one you’ve shared. If you decide to use it, we suggest checking:

  • Developer reputation & update history – ensure the extension is actively maintained and compatible with your Joomla version.
  • Performance impact – test on a staging site first to confirm it doesn’t affect page load or conflict with SP Page Builder.
  • WCAG coverage – no widget guarantees full compliance, so you may still need additional accessibility best practices in your site design.

If you’d like, you can experiment with that extension in a test environment and see if it meets your needs before deploying it live. Godd luck!

Best regards

Hi Philip,

Yes, from my experience, I highly recommend the plugin DJ Accessibility (Lite/Pro).

But remember it's just extra toolbar, it helps but it will not solve Accessibility problems in content if you have any. I hope you understand that. You need to make Accessibility audit (at least using online tool), and then correct all design mistakes (color contrast, font-size, etc). The same rule is in WordPress or Drupal.
