Helix Framework 1 week ago

Hi everyone. I'm having a problem with Helix, even with the latest update.

On all my websites, with the "System - Helix Ultimate Framework" plugin active, there's an error that appears in the browser console.

An attempt to load this file is loaded in the header: templates/system/css/font-awesome.min?format=css

which in fact doesn't exist. After doing some research, I discovered that the issue is known and has been fixed, but despite the update, the situation persists. It clearly shows this problem, sometimes with a 404 error: NS_ERROR_CORRUPTED_CONTENT

On some websites, it slows down opening the edit mode or opening new posts; in some cases, it even blocks the page from loading for up to a minute and a half.

If I disable the plugin, the problem is resolved immediately, but obviously the website, which uses Joomshaper templates, crashes.

I've done some research but can't find a solution, and I don't want to have to change the HELIX code. I should point out that this happens with both updated templates and older ones, perhaps even just one version behind.

Hello S-D CONSULTING,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm sorry for the inconvenience you're experiencing.

To help resolve this issue with fontawesome.min.css, would you be willing to grant me temporary administrative access to your site? This will allow me to investigate the problem directly.

Before you provide credentials, I highly recommend creating a full backup of your site to ensure data security.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards

Hi, no problem with what you're asking.

I should point out, however, that I discovered this problem by accident, and it affects all websites using HELIX 2.1.3 (I have at least 80 websites, all updated).

I just log in to all of them, access an article in the editing mode, or create a new one, while keeping the webmaster tools open (Firefox, Chrome is the same), and you'll see the error.

By the way, the same thing happens with your demos. I downloaded a complete package, installed it (even a recent one), and it gives you the same error as in the screenshot.

If you need access to mine, I'll send you the logins, but you can try any of your packages. I did some research and read that this HELIX issue is known and that theoretically it was fixed with the latest update, but that's not the case.

Yes, on many websites, it slows down, but access takes 4-5 seconds; on others, it takes a huge amount of time.

Sorry, I clearly add that if you look for that file in that path, there is no font-awesome.min.css in a templates/system/css folder

Of course, I made a video screenshot for you.

I showed you, in the test area, that if I access the articles and click on new article (but this also applies to editing), the loading time is about 10 seconds, and the error appears in the webmaster tools.

Then I went to system, plugins, and disabled HELIX, and as you can see, if I go back to the article management, the loading as new or edit is immediate.

I normally use JCE Editor. But the problem persists even when I disable the editor; I've already ruled this out.

The problem is caused by HELIX on all websites.

If you try disabling the plugin, you'll immediately discover the problem, because HELIX inserts a call to a font awesome file in the head that doesn't exist as a path in Joomla.

Hello S-D CONSULTING,

Sorry for the inconvenience. I've identified the issue. The reason I was unable to reproduce it is because it only occurs on multi-lingual sites. I've informed the development team, and a fix will be included in the next update.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Best regards

I'm sorry, but I can't confirm what you're saying.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the error also occurs on single-language websites; it's a HELIX bug, and I need to know how to temporarily fix it.

It calls a nonexistent file, and the cause is the plugin, which I CANNOT disable, otherwise the website would crash.

It happens on single-language websites in Italian, even on international websites I manage in English.

It has nothing to do with multilingual websites.

The problem is that HELIX inserts a link to a file in the head of the file at this path:

/templates/system/css/font-awesome.min.css

A file that has no meaning or ownership. I've also tried disabling the FontAwesome feature from the template and PageBuilder, but it has no effect; the problem is HELIX.

You can see in the screenshot that the problem occurs even on a single-language site.

In fact, it doesn't include any prefixes. But above all, why include a link to a nonexistent file in a default Joomla folder in the head?

Gooday,

My joomla article is loading really slow. There is a conflict inside multilingual administrator.

I have the same issue:

Refused to apply style from 'es/templates/system/css/font-awesome.min.css' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled.

There is no font-awesome.min.css file in that path. I guess what´s calling to it is Helix or SP Page...

I disabled Font-Awesome from Helix, SP Page, SP Page Joomla article integration and JCE editor but the error persists.

Front-end works properly.

Thanks.

Best regards.

Hi Jon, It's the same problem that happens to me on all websites, not just multilingual ones.

On some of them, page loading times are even fast, on others it hangs on that file, in some cases even when the admin is loading in edit or new post mode, for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

I don't understand why, when the HELIX plugin is active (system plugin), the fontawesome.min.css meta URL is inserted in the admin into that location: templates/system/css, a directory that DOESN'T exist.

Hi S-D,

Yes, joomla article charge time is about 30 seconds. If there are 2-3 users editing articles the site falls.

I have updated recently to joomla 5.3.4. Maybe, it is a conflict between SP / Helix and joomlas this version...

What about upgrading to SP 6.0.?, does it work only with joomla 6.x?

Let´s see how is going the next week to test different solutions in a backup instance.

All the best. Thanks.

GM Mates! An eventual solution has been:

  • Copy the css file (there are several font-awesome.min.css files, but i choose this most recent on): plugins/system/helix3/assets/css/font-awesome.min.css

  • to: templates/system/css/font-awesome.min.css

Then i got this error: downloadable font: download failed (font-family: "FontAwesome" style:normal weight:400 stretch:100 src index:2): status=2152398850 source: templates/system/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.7.0

So, I:

  • uploaded fontawesome-webfont.woff?v=4.7.0 (i add manually "?v=4.7.0") from: plugins/system/helix3/assets/fonts/fontawesome-webfont.woff

  • to: /templates/system/fonts/

Now articles are loading faster, but it is not an exemplar solution...

There are many font-awesome css files and typos, from other components. So it can be due to another plugin.

Thanks. Regards.

Note, i continue with joomla administrator panel, the top-right menu is not unfolding and inside the Toogling Inline Help buttons icon is not showing...

Thanks, Jon. I'd also considered a temporary solution like the one you suggested, but it risks conflicting with other settings.

I still haven't figured out why HELIX inserts that meta into the administrator header that calls font-awesome.min.css in that location, given that that /templates/system/css directory never existed in Joomla.

My apologies for the delayed response over the weekend. Sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. I've informed the development team about the issue with Fontawesome.min.css, and they have implemented a fix. This fix will be included in the upcoming update.

In the meantime, for an immediate solution, you can install the Helix Ultimate plugin, which you'll find in the hidden content area.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi,

Now i get another error with this font; i uploaded to the directory but it continues with the error, the page is not loading at all:
