Page Crash On Article Image Insert

SPPB has been giving me an error with the image add-on for a while now... the last two updates haven't fixed the problem. Simply adding an image to an article causes the page to crash. The page is saved in SPPB, then you return to the Joomla article page. From there, if you click "Save and Close," an error is generated, visible in the attached image SPPB_images_error_1.png, and the article remains blocked (see image SPPB_images_error_2.png). Opening and closing the article again removes the block, but the page remains inaccessible from the web (see image SPPB_images_error_3). If you save the article in SPPB and return to Joomla and click "Close," the article does NOT remain blocked as in SPPB_images_error_2, but the page is inaccessible from the web (SPPB_images_error_3). Note: This doesn't happen with background images or images added via custom HTML. Currently, to insert images, I'm forced to use the Carousel add-on, inserting only one slide. Can I resolve this by reinstalling just the "image" add-on? How can I do that? Thanks.

Hello,

I have enabled the Backward Compatibility plugin, and the issue you reported is now resolved.

Regarding the lock icon, Simply click on the lock icon once and it will be unchecked automatically.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please share temporary administrator access to your Joomla backend? You can provide the credentials securely in the hidden content section. Also, please take a full backup of your site before we make any changes.

Once I have access, I’ll investigate further and see what’s causing the issue. Let me know once you’ve shared the details!

Best regards,

Thanks for your reply: you'll find your login credentials in the hidden section. A while ago, your support team caused my entire system to crash without fixing the problem, so I kindly ask you to proceed with caution, even though I've made backups. Thank you.

thank you... I'd like to inform you that this is a clean installation of Joomla and SPPB without any other external add-ons, and updates have always been applied regularly when available, first to SPPB and then to Joomla... so SPPB has always had a suitable Joomla environment. Installing a Joomla update on an SPPB that hadn't yet been updated could have caused problems.

As Joomla 6 is new, you currently need to use the Backward Compatibility plugin until we release a fully compatible version that no longer requires it.

Thank you for your understanding.

How is it possible that every time you suggest a fix, it's a worse disaster afterward? You already weren't able to fix a problem once, and I had to rebuild the entire site from scratch... now if I restore the plg_behaviour_compat compatibility plugin (disabled) to upgrade to Joomla version 6, everything crashes...!!! I restored the previous setting of the plg_behaviour_compat plugin to "enabled" by editing the record in the database, otherwise I would have been cut off from everything... bad... and now i'm not able to upgare to Joomla 6... very, very bad. NB: I'm still on Joomla version 5.4.2.

For Joomla 6, the Backward Compatibility plugin is mandatory for sp page builder and other our extensions.

Before upgrading, please make sure you create a full backup of your site. Then proceed with the upgrade and keep the compatibility plugin enabled.

If you face any issues during the upgrade process or after upgrade, please let me know and I will assist you.

Thanks.

So why does the update system tell me it needs to be disabled and flag it as a serious error (red color)? We're talking about plg_behaviour_compat plugin. Thanks

And in any case, the error is blocking because it doesn't allow me to update without disabling the plugin... the only available option is to perform the operation manually... this is not normal behavior.... I repeat, we're talking about the plg_behaviour_compat plugin from previous Joomla versions, not the plg_behaviour_compat plugin6 plugin specific to Joomla version 6, which has the expected green flag (OK).

This is Joomla’s core plugin plg_behaviour_compat.

You can disable this plugin before starting the upgrade process. Once the upgrade is complete, you can re-enable it if needed.

Thanks.

But then you still don't understand... if I disable the plugin, the whole site and Joomla crash and I can't do updates!!! I don't know what you did the last time you messed with it... my initial problem was just that uploading images crashed the whole site, so I had to use the gallery and upload just one image... now it's worse than before.

Hello,

I will take a backup of your site and test the issue on my local environment. I will need some additional time to properly investigate this.

I appreciate your patience.

Thanks.

I investigated with AI help and found the plugin that's causing the crash... by disabling (renaming the folder) the spcookieconsent plugin, it's possible to disable the Backward Compatibility plugin without errors. AI says that "JoomShaper hasn't rewritten the code natively yet (it still uses the old JPlugin system)"... think about what you need to do to fix this, thanks. I'll wait for your fix before upgrading to Joomla 6.

Thanks for the assistance, but we're not quite there yet... I found the Akeba Backup plugin installed on the site, which acts on the entire hosting, even interacting with personal data stored on the cloud installed outside of the Joomla environment...

Anyway, I apologize for the misunderstanding, but I'd like to point out that the Joomla update issue is present on my other site, registered with Joomshaper (Joomla version 5.4.2), on which I followed the same instructions provided here... see hidden text... Didn't you see that this site was already on version 6??? Can you please safely remove the Akeba plugin and the backup files, since, if backed up to the cloud, it takes up several gigabytes of space? Thanks. PS: In the meantime, I've disabled the Akeba extension. If necessary, please resolve the Akeba issue and then close the thread regarding this image issue (for this site), and I'll open a new support request for the other site and the other issue. Thank you.

Hello,

To reduce your cloud storage, you’ll need to manually delete the backup files created by Akeeba Backup. • Local backups: Go to the backup folder on your server (usually /administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup/) and delete the files you no longer need. • Cloud backups: Log in to your cloud storage (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3) and remove the backup files directly from there, (If already stored)

Kind regards,
