Hello,

We're trying to build a webapp based on the newsberg template available on your platform. Below you will find some annoying bugs we're experiencing out of the box after installing the template using your quick installation pack v2.0.2. Please note that we tested on 2 different setups, PHP 8.3 (php83-fpm) + MySQL 8.0.44 and PHP 8.4 (php84-fpm) + MySQL 8.0.44, (SP Page Builder Production On/Off) both having the same bugs.

  1. Language
  • French cannot be updated -> Invalid extension update (but can be uninstalled)
    • After uninstalling French -> reinstalling -> Unable to detect manifest file.
  • Trying to install another language (eg. Finnish, Estonian, English USA) -> Unable to detect manifest file.
  1. Weather (Please make sure that, your allow_url_fopen or cURL is enabled. Also, make sure your API key and location is correct. Verify your location from here https://openweathermap.org/find)
  • API key installed
  • cURL support enabled
  • cURL Information 7.76.1
  • allow_url_fopen On On
  • allow_url_include On On (enabled this for testing)
  • Updated to SP Weather 4.1.0 manually by uploading zip package because Joomla will not find any update for this module. I wonder if update works for the other modules from point 4 of this message. -> (Same error message from point 2)
  1. Installation Messages - always showing 5. Tried to reset, does not show any installation message but the dashboard still saying we have 5 messages. <- Very annoying

  2. Tried to rebuild from scratch but the following modules cannot be downloaded directly from your site:

  • SP Date
  • SP Tabbed Articles
  • SP Tweet
  • As we mentioned in point 2, does these modules get updated and how?
  1. When trying to install module SP Author Archive Component, we get 2 errors
  • Warning -> Database not set in Joomla\CMS\Installer\Installer
  • danger -> Error installing component openweathermap.org

Hello George,

Thank you for your detailed report.

We have tested the Quick Install package (v2.0.2) on our end and did not encounter these issues. It appears the problems may be specific to your environment or server configuration.

We recommend reviewing your server setup (PHP version, extensions, permissions, etc.) and trying a fresh installation to rule out any environment-related conflicts.

That said, we’ve also shared your findings with our team for further review.

Thank you for your patience.

Best regards

Hello,

So first things first.

  1. SP Weather module doesn't support proxy. (For security reasons, like many other companies, we're not giving our hosts direct internet access.)
  • We modified the module to work in our environment and we're asking you for this feature to be implemented, proxy support.
  • You can find the modified code here: https://pastebin.com/G58bwfDR
  1. Language problem is still there, on fresh installations it works just fine, on other joomla apps (existing using different templates) works just fine.

  2. Attached photos for every issue described

Please advise.

Hello George,

Thank you for your detailed follow-up and for sharing the screenshots and modified code.

  1. SP Weather (Proxy Support)

We understand that your environment requires outbound requests through a proxy, and we appreciate you sharing your modified implementation. At the moment, we are not continuing development of this extension separately, so we recommend proceeding with your custom implementation on your end.

  1. Language Installation Issue

Since you’ve confirmed that language installation works correctly on fresh Joomla setups and other templates, this may be related to the Quick Install package. We are rechecking this on our end to identify the root cause. In the meantime, please try installing the languages manually.

  1. Post Installation Messages

We reviewed the screenshot you provided. This appears to be a Joomla-related issue where the installation message state is not syncing properly. For now, you may ignore these messages as they should not affect functionality.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Best regards
