Error: "Impossibile Recuperare L'elenco Dei Modelli."

Hello,
whenever I open a page in the editor and click on "Impostazioni di pagina" (Page Layouts) the page editor goes in a loop and keeps on opening yellow message boxes on the right side of the screen "Impossibile recuperare l'elenco dei modelli." (Unable to retrieve template list). I cannot check or change the page settings. Can you help me?
