Helix Framework 1 day ago

Update from 6.0.3 to 6.1.0. After update code 500 and white screen notification. Backend and frontend white screen en no login anymore. Fresh install of Gourmand template! Nothing done more. Only updated extensions to latest Helix Ultimate and latest sp page builder. It works after that. Gourmand template is 2.0.3. sp page builder 6.3.2. Helix 2.2.5. php 8.4.20. The basic update settings are fundamentally good and were all green. Quite a lot of plugin notifications for which there is problem or no information (including K2?). I ignore all that notifications while it's was fresh install. What is wrong and how to fix, what to do? Regards, Erik

Thanks for the information.

I’m personally using Chrome in most cases as well, but in this situation I don’t think the browser is the root cause of the issue. Both Firefox and Chrome handle Joomla sites very similarly, especially for standard frontend/backend operations.

Modern browsers also don’t usually cause that kind of behavior unless there is something very specific like:

  • aggressive cache settings (which you already control in Firefox),
  • a corrupted local cache/session,
  • or an extension interfering with scripts.

Given that the issue resolved after the update, it’s more likely related to something on the site side at that moment (for example a missing or partially updated file, or a temporary cache/state inconsistency), rather than the browser itself.

So your observation about Chrome is interesting, but I’d still lean toward the issue being coincidental rather than browser-specific.

If anything similar happens again, we can also try a quick test across both browsers to confirm it more scientifically.

Hello Erik,

Thank you for your detailed explanation.

To properly investigate the issue and identify the root cause of the 500 error and white screen after the Joomla update, I will need access to your server environment.

Could you please provide the following:

  • cPanel / hosting control panel access
  • FTP or SFTP credentials
  • Joomla administrator access (if possible)

This will allow me to review error logs, check extension compatibility, and safely troubleshoot the issue.

If you prefer, you may also provide a full site backup so I can replicate the issue in a local environment.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Secondly, maybe you can download and install the package yourself. And after that try to update and you can replicate it. Maybe the same problem persist. Just an idea-)

Yes, I see it. Completely fine! Why it didn't work for me, no clue. I realy don't know. The only thing i find it strange that so many extensions were mentioned that according to Joomla would not be or not work properly. I thought to think proactively and get a solution to be able to solve it myself immediately for future problems. Thank you very much for the quick action!!

Thank you for your update, and I’m glad to hear that everything is working fine now.

To be completely transparent, I didn’t perform any advanced troubleshooting steps in this case. I simply went through the update process, and no installation errors occurred on my end. My assumption is that one or more files may have been missing or not properly synced earlier, which could have caused the issue you experienced during your attempt.

Sometimes, these inconsistencies can occur due to incomplete updates, file transfer interruptions, or caching layers, and they resolve once the system is properly refreshed or updated again.

I completely understand your intention to proactively manage similar situations in the future—that’s a great approach. If you encounter anything similar again, I’d recommend checking for incomplete updates, clearing cache, and verifying file integrity as initial steps.

If you have any further questions or run into issues again, feel free to reach out anytime.

Thanks for your instructions. Wich browser you use (nomaly)? Normaly i use Firefox, set to not use caching, page memory, and other things. This time, by chance, i used Chrome where this is not set. Maybe that is a cause?
