Using Multiple JoomShaper Templates In The Same Joomla Site.

I have a question regarding using multiple JoomShaper templates in the same Joomla site.

Currently, my main website is using the Newsberg template as the default. However, I would like to use the Nexio template only for a specific page (e.g., “About Us”), which is built with SP Page Builder and originally exported from a Nexio Quickstart installation.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Installed Nexio template (not Quickstart) on the same site. Imported a page from Nexio Quickstart into SP Page Builder. Assigned the Nexio template to the specific menu item.

The issue is that the page looks correctly formatted in the backend (SP Page Builder), but in the frontend it appears without proper styling.

My questions are:

Is it fully supported to use two JoomShaper templates (e.g., Newsberg + Nexio) within the same Joomla installation and assign one template only to specific menu items?

If yes, what is the recommended way to ensure that all Nexio styles, assets, and configurations are correctly applied only to that page?

Nexio provides a JSON settings file. Is it safe to import these settings into the Nexio template style without affecting the main template (Newsberg)?

Are there any dependencies (Helix settings, custom CSS, addons, or overrides) from the Quickstart package that must be manually replicated when not using the full Quickstart?

I want to avoid overriding or breaking the current configuration of my main template while correctly rendering the Nexio-based page.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Hi María,

Thank you for your detailed explanation.

First, to clarify—this is not a JoomShaper-specific feature, but a core feature of Joomla. Joomla natively allows assigning different templates (or template styles) to different menu items. So using Newsberg as the default and Nexio for a specific page is absolutely valid.

We also have a blog post on this topic: 👉 https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/how-to-use-two-or-more-templates-in-one-joomla-site

Although it’s quite old, the process is still the same, so you can follow it as a reference.

About your frontend styling issue

The behavior you’re seeing is expected in this type of setup.

In many SP Page Builder pages, not all CSS/JS comes from the page builder itself. A significant portion of styling and scripts are loaded from the active template (Helix/Nexio).

As you mentioned, the “About Us” page from Nexio depends on template-level CSS and JS. If those assets are not loaded, the page will appear broken on the frontend, even though it looks fine in the backend.

To render the page correctly:

  • The page must be assigned to the Nexio template style
  • The Nexio template must be fully functional (Helix settings, assets, etc.)

About JSON settings

Yes, it is safe to import the Nexio JSON settings into the Nexio template style. This will not affect Newsberg, as Joomla keeps template styles isolated.

About Quickstart dependencies

Since you’re not using the full Quickstart package, some elements may be missing, such as:

  • Helix template configurations
  • Custom CSS/JS
  • SP Page Builder addon dependencies
  • Module layouts or overrides

These often need to be manually replicated for the page to look identical.

Summary

  • ✔ Multiple templates = Joomla core feature
  • ✔ Your setup = correct approach
  • ⚠ Issue = template-dependent CSS/JS not loading

If everything is already assigned correctly and the issue persists, feel free to share the page URL—we can help you identify exactly what assets are missing.

Best regards
