Hi!

  1. I also wanted to clarify on this topic (https://www.joomshaper.com/forum/question/45258), how to find out if the site is infected, what to check and where?
  2. And for the option: Jumla 4.14.4 and SPPB 5, is it required to manually patch the system?

Hi,

To check whether the site is infected, you can use tools like Akeeba Tools Pro (if available) or any security tool provided by your hosting provider.

The main things to check are:

  • Whether any unauthorized user accounts have been created
  • Whether there are any suspicious PHP file injections or malicious code added in the database
  • Whether any PHP files or core/extension files have been modified unexpectedly
  • Check the activity logs for any unusual or suspicious file modifications or changes

Regarding Joomla 4.14.4 and SP Page Builder 5: since you have an active subscription, you do not need to apply the manual patching process. You can simply follow the regular Page Builder update process and update it to version 6.6.2 normally.

The manual patch process was mainly required for expired subscribers who could not access the regular update method. In that case, Joomla 4.14.4 and SPPB 5, it is required to manually patch the system, yes!

Best regards,

Hi Vic,

This is long process, and for sure hosting support and their tools should help as first step of cleaning.

Then just follow tips from shared topic or hire somebody who will do the job for you if you don't have time or skills to do that alone.

Remember that Joomla 4 don't get any security updates anymore. So if you decided to keep it, you need extra firewall component.
