Shipping Rates Based On Postal Codes For Specific Product Categories

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to configure an additional shipping method in EasyStore.

At the moment, our standard shipping costs are calculated based on the total weight of the products in the shopping cart.

In addition to this, we would like to have a shipping method that is based on the customer's ZIP/postal code, but only for products belonging to a specific category.

For example:

Products in the normal categories → shipping cost calculated according to the total weight. Products in a specific category (e.g. bulky/heavy goods) → shipping cost calculated according to the customer's ZIP/postal code.

Is this possible with EasyStore 2.x?

Ideally, we would like to define different shipping rates for specific ZIP/postal code ranges, for example:

ZIP codes 01000–19999 → €XX ZIP codes 20000–39999 → €XX ZIP codes 40000–59999 → €XX etc.

And these ZIP-code-based rates should only apply when the cart contains products from the specified category.

Could you please let me know if EasyStore supports this functionality, either natively or through an available plugin/extension?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards, Klaus

Hello Klaus,

Thanks for the detailed explanation — that's a very clear use case.

Unfortunately what you're describing isn't supported natively right now:

Shipping rules are matched by country + state only — there's no ZIP/postal code field anywhere in the shipping configuration or calculation logic, so postal-code-range rates (e.g. 01000–19999 → €XX) aren't something the system can evaluate today.

Shipping methods (flat / weight-based / free) are configured at the store/region level, not per product category — there's no way to scope a shipping method to "only when the cart contains products from category X." There's also no "bulky vs. normal product" distinction in the product data itself, so even the underlying condition (does this cart contain a bulky-category item?) isn't something the shipping engine currently checks.

So both pieces you need — ZIP-range-based rates, and category-conditional shipping methods — would require new functionality rather than existing settings we can just turn on.

I'll add it as a feature request, so our team will review.

Best regards,
