FormBuilder Addon - Problem With 3rd Party Captchas

Hello Joomshaper,

i'm really having trouble using third party captcha plugins with the form builder addon. I'm currently on Joomla 5 and have tried the following Plugins: HashCash - https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/hashcash/ Altcha - https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/altcha-for-joomla/

Can you tell my why the standard captcha integration is not working for these two captchas? I can see in the source code that there is a lot of special IF/Else statements depending on the selection, but the standard else branch does not seem to work at all.

Please fix or make clear, which plugins work with SPPageBuilder and which to not (not working ones should not be selectable!)

We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with the CAPTCHA integration in the Form Builder addon.

Currently, SP Page Builder supports the following CAPTCHA integrations:

  • Joomla's Proof of Work CAPTCHA
  • Google reCAPTCHA
  • hCaptcha
  • Cloudflare Turnstile

These are the CAPTCHA options officially supported by SP Page Builder. The supported integrations and configuration details are also listed in our documentation here:

The third-party plugins you mentioned, such as HashCash and ALTCHA, are not currently supported integrations in SP Page Builder's Form Builder. Therefore, their CAPTCHA functionality may not work correctly through the standard CAPTCHA integration.

We understand your suggestion regarding unsupported CAPTCHA plugins being unavailable for selection. We will take this feedback into consideration for future improvements.

Hello!

Sometime after the recent updates of Page Builder 6.x, the formbuilder captcha support in combination with Aimy Captcha (https://www.aimy-extensions.com/joomla/captcha-less-form-guard.html) started failing.

I have opened a case with the vendor, but also want to ask if there were changes recently in SP Page Builder / form builder that would have caused the functionality to break. And my other question is, if this was an intentional change in behavior, or accidental and needs attention on your side?

Thank you for contacting us.

Aimy Captcha has never been officially supported by the SP Page Builder Contact Form or Form Builder addons.

The currently supported CAPTCHA options are:

  • Joomla's Proof of Work CAPTCHA
  • Google reCAPTCHA
  • hCaptcha
  • Cloudflare Turnstile

Therefore, we cannot confirm whether recent SP Page Builder updates caused the Aimy Captcha issue, as it is not among the supported CAPTCHA options.
