Dynamic Filter – Field Option Disabled With Joomla Articles

Hello JoomShaper Support,

I am working on a portfolio page using SP Page Builder Pro 6.9.0 and Joomla Articles as the Dynamic Content source.

I would like to create an interactive portfolio filter based on the Joomla Article Category.

My setup is:

  • Collection: Articles
  • Source: Articles
  • The Articles collection correctly displays my Joomla articles.
  • In Collection → Filter, the field Category is available and can be selected.
  • However, when I add a Dynamic Filter and select Field-wise Filter, the Field option remains disabled/greyed out, so I cannot select Category.

I have already tried switching between Field-wise Filter and Search, saving/reloading the page, and checking the Article collection fields, but the Field option remains disabled.

My goal is simply:

Joomla Articles → Joomla Categories → Dynamic Filter → filter the articles by Category on the same page.

Could you please let me know:

  1. Is field-wise filtering by Joomla Article Category currently supported with the native Articles collection?
  2. If yes, what is the correct configuration to make the Field option available?
  3. If it is not supported with native Joomla Articles, is there another recommended way to achieve interactive category filtering without moving the projects to Dynamic Content Items or another separate content system?

I would prefer to keep the projects as standard Joomla Articles for SEO, individual article URLs, multilingual support, and structured content.

Thank you!

Best regards, Rita

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please share temporary administrator access to your Joomla backend? You can provide the credentials securely in the hidden content section. Also, please take a full backup of your site before we make any changes.

Once I have access, I’ll investigate further and see what’s causing the issue. Let me know once you’ve shared the details!

Best regards,
