Hi Jeffery,
The Helix language override itself isn’t broken. In this case, it looks like something else is overwriting the value downstream.
On your site, the <meta name="generator"> tag is being controlled by Easy Frontend SEO (Pro) rather than directly by the Helix language string.
Here’s what is happening:
- Helix Ultimate sets the generator value using
Text::_('HELIX_ULTIMATE_GENERATOR_TEXT') while generating the page head. Since this language key is not defined in your template’s language files, the raw constant is displayed.
- Easy Frontend SEO then processes the
<head> and replaces the generator tag with its own stored value. In your case, EFSEO has stored the raw HELIX_ULTIMATE_GENERATOR_TEXT value in its auto-generated data.
- Because EFSEO replaces the tag afterward, the Language Override does not reach the final output.
Please try the following:
1. Set the Generator value in EFSEO
Go to:
Components → Easy Frontend SEO → Options
Set the Generator field to the text you want to display, or leave it blank/a single space if you want the generator tag to be empty. This setting has priority over the value generated by Helix.
2. Check the homepage entry
Go to:
Components → Easy Frontend SEO
Open the entry for your homepage and clear the Generator field, then save it.
EFSEO's automatic mode may have previously stored HELIX_ULTIMATE_GENERATOR_TEXT as the generator value for that page.
3. Clear the Joomla cache
Go to:
System → Clear Cache
Then clear the relevant cache and reload the homepage.
After that, check the page source and verify the <meta name="generator"> tag.
You can also keep the Language Override for HELIX_ULTIMATE_GENERATOR_TEXT under:
System → Languages → Overrides → Site
However, the main issue here is that Easy Frontend SEO is overriding the value, so the EFSEO settings need to be corrected first.
Alternatively, you can disable/hide the Generator option in EFSEO so that EFSEO stops managing this meta tag. In that case, Helix and the language override will control the generator value.
Best regards,
