Clicking On A Link To A Section ID does Not Work The First Time - Only The Second And Subsequent Clicks

SP Page Builder 4 years ago

Hi

This is an issue I have on both Joomla 3.10 and Joomla 4. I have the latest versions of SP Pagebuilder and Helix Ultimate installed on both Joomlas, and the same problem persist. I list it here under the SP Pagebuilder category because that is where I define the Section ID, but perhaps it is a Helix issue? I cannot tell.

When you open the website for the first time in your browser and click on say, the CONTACT menu item which is a URL taking you to #contact - the link to the contact section ID, the page scrolls down towards the contact section, but stops close to it, but not exactly where I set it to go. If you then click for a second time on the menu item, it goes to exactly the right place.

This problem started after we got the latest upgrades of SP Pagebuilder and Helix Ultimate when Joomla 4 was released.

You can test it on https://justenjoy.org.za

Please advise?

Hi Toufiq

Thank you so much for your reply.

No, it does not. It happens when you open the website (justenjoy.org) in a browser (Chrome) the first time and click on a link (Contact). It scrolls to the specified Section ID, but stops short of where it should be.

If you click a second time in Chrome, it goes to where it should be, and from then on it is fine until you close the browser and open it again.

If I go to thegoodway.org, the same thing happens in Chrome. The first click positions you about 500 pixels short of the correct place:

Every subsequent click thereafter in Chrome works correct:

If I use my Edge browser, the same thing happens:

And the subsequent click:

Let's return to thegoodway.org in Edge - first click:

And subsequently:

So, no, I have to disagree with you. It does not work correctly. It is not a total disaster, but it is an inconvenience.

Take care,

Hi Toufiq

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it is still the same. It is not browser specific and not site specific. It happens on all my sites with the latest SP Pagebuilder and Helix Ultimate.

Hi Toufiq

Thank you for your reply. I just cleared the cache on my Chrome Browser, opened justenjoy.org, clicked on Contact, and it still did not scroll to the right position. The second time I clicked on it, it was correct.

I find this strange, because it was something that worked perfectly before on previous versions of SP Pagebuilder. However, I do not know if it is not perhaps a template (Helix) problem?
