I am creating a site for the public with a public menu bar but I am also creating a members area and need to remove the public menu bar and replace it with a members menu bar.

Hi there!

Thanks for your query.

ACL is a Joomla core feature. So this question is not appropriate for us I think.

If you want to vanish your menus while someone logged in, then you can use other menues set access to the guest. And the member menu access level as registered.

The following blogs may help:

Best Regards

Hi, you can mix menu items that are public with those which are for register users only. This feature exist in Joomla since J1.5 at least. Yes, all is based on Joomla ACL. Look: foto_6789_2021.jpg

Yes, you can use alternative menu - but it maybe complicated in long term if you are not advanced Joomla user.

Besides you can publish 2nd menu for register users on right or lefy module position - it's also used solution on many sites.
