Using shortcodes in SPPB (from OS Downloads)

Asked by Carrie M Wrigley 5 years ago Last activity 2 months ago

Do I have to turn some kind of plugin on in SPPB, in order to sucessfully use shortcodes from other extensions?

I have shortcodes for an extension (OS Downloads) that generates a labeled button generating a file download, in exchange for a customer's email. The shortcode works perfectly in any Joomla article, generating the button and functionality as desired. But when plugged into SPPB, it just displays the shortcode text, and not the button.

I have tried these shortcodes in SPPB with a Raw Text Add-on, and also as a Text-Box Add-on. With both types of add-ons, I tried copying , both from the "Editor" and "Code" displays from the Joomla article where the codes work, into the same "Editor" and "Code" displays in the Text Add-On in SPPB. Same result every time. Just the text displayed - no button. :-(

You can see the test page in SPPB where I've tried this. https://morninglightmusic.org/component/sppagebuilder/?view=page&id=17&Itemid=0

In contrast, the same exact shortcode works great on a Joomla page, as displayed here:
https://morninglightmusic.org/component/content/article/53-lyrics/lyrics-original-singles/259-osd-shortcode-test-on-joomla-page?Itemid=128.

It also works great within standard Joomla tables on standard Joomla pages, as displayed in the blue "Descargar" (Download) buttons here: https://morninglightmusic.org/recordings/canciones
But, in SPPB, nothing but text. How do I correct this?

I googled this and found some responses that suggested some extensions require a plugin to handle shortcodes properly. So I wondered if that's the case here as well. Hope you can help solve this issue. -- Carrie

Or you can use addon that I sharedon forum many times:

  1. Download zip file:

shortcode_html_unzip.zip

  1. Unzip it, and then use FTP tool or File Manager and upload here

yes it works in SPPB 3.x and SPPB 5.x

Hello Paul!

Is this addon compatible with joomla 5, and php 8.2?
Will it be included in SP Page Builder?

How do you implement this. I tried to install the plugin I get a Warning JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.

I did upload the two files to the addons folder and that didn't do anything either.]

Please advise.

I use it on my private sites, works with SPPB 5.3 + PHP 8.x

Sorry, but Unzipped folder must be transfered to components\com_sppagebuilder\addons

It works, if you will do exactly what is shown. It was used by over 50+ forum users in many projects.

I was mistaken about installing it. I did upload the files. it didn't work. It's irrelevant if there is no support. Thank you for your reply though.

Have a great day.

No problem.

This is my private addon. Shared for Free. It works in 99% cases in SPPB 5 Pro/Lite. I tested with serverals plugins.

Alternative, you can always use Joomla Custom Module etc.

If your extra installed compoment has module already - it's better to use its module by our Module addon.

Working nice for me. Thank you.

Hi Paul
I am trying to use a plain html module in Modal popup.
When I copy in your shortcode_html I get this error: "0 Class "JText" not found"

Running Joomla 6.1.2, SPP 6.7.0, PHP 8.5.8

Anything I can alter in the php files to work around this?

That addon was unoffical, without support. sorry.

It works well but I try to make it kind of dynamic. I mean that I use it in a single product page easystore and as for each product it would load a different module. So in the short code, I put the modules for all the product. And I assign each module to a menu (through menu assignment). But it doesn't work; it loads all the modules. It doesn't take into account the menu assignments.

In SPPB you have Module addon for that purpose.

My addon was only for shortcodes from plugins.

Modules can be "called" by ID, position name etc. check default features.
