Smart Search pagination issue

Asked by Marin 1 month ago Last activity 2 weeks ago

Hi,

We are experiencing some issues on our Joomla websites after upgrading to Joomla 6.1.3, and we suspect they may be related to Helix Ultimate.

At first glance, everything looks fine, but we noticed some frontend layout issues — for example, the off-canvas menu is shifted downward, while on some websites the entire page is pushed down.

However, the bigger issue is with Smart Search (com_finder). The initial search works correctly, but when navigating through the pagination, the search term is lost. Page 2 works the first time, but going back to page 1 or navigating to another page results in an empty list.

Could you please check whether this could be related to Helix Ultimate and its compatibility with Joomla 6.1.3, particularly regarding the search/pagination or frontend JavaScript?

Best regards

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue. I checked the search functionality and found an error in the browser console. It appears that a third-party plugin may be causing the issue. I also tested the same functionality on my local environment, where everything works as expected.

If you share login credential via hidden content area, I’ll investigate the issue.

I solved the problem. I didn’t have a search menu item created. Creating this menu item fixed the pagination issue.

However, the problem with theme, the off-canvas menu being shifted is still present.

Can you share a screencast video about the off-canvas menu?

Here you are.

Add this css code inside the custom.css file.

#sp-top-bar {
    padding: 8px 0;
    font-size: .875rem;
    position: relative;
    z-index: 1;
}

-Thanks

I found that it is caused by this CSS:

.com-finder>+, .com-finder__results>+ {
margin-top: 1.5em;
}

Any idea?

Add this css code inside the custom.css file.

body.site.helix-ultimate.hu.com_finder.com-finder.view-search .offcanvas-menu.left-1.offcanvas-arrow-right {
    margin-top: 0px;
}

The off-canvas menu is now working fine, but the top bar is still showing. Can we do something about that as well?

Could you kindly grant me access to your Joomla administrator area so that I can investigate the issue you're experiencing? Prior to providing access, please ensure that you have backed up your site. Additionally, it's important to note that providing login credentials is entirely voluntary on your part; we respect your decision either way. However, if you do choose to share the login details, it would greatly expedite the resolution process. Thank you for your cooperation.s

Hi,

I’d like to follow up on our previous message regarding the issues.

We have now noticed that the same issues are also present on other websites using Helix Ultimate, not necessarily websites maintained or developed by us. This makes us think that the issue may be related to the interaction between Helix Ultimate and Joomla 6.1.3, rather than being specific to our websites.

Since we can reproduce similar behavior on multiple, unrelated websites using Helix Ultimate, could you please investigate whether there is a compatibility issue between Helix Ultimate and Joomla 6.1.3?

Add this css code inside the custom.css file.

body.site.helix-ultimate.view-search.com-finder > * + * {
    margin-top: 0px;
}

or

body.site.helix-ultimate.view-search.com-finder > * + * {
    margin-top: 0px !important;
}

Hi,

Could you please confirm whether this is a known bug in Helix Ultimate related to Joomla 6.1.3?

If so, I would rather wait for an update that addresses and fixes this issue before making any further changes on the affected websites.

Please let me know if this is indeed a confirmed issue on your side.
