Set Up Your Pages

Updated 8 Oct 2026 5 min read

JoomShaper templates use SP Page Builder to create flexible page layouts without requiring custom code. Depending on the template, some pages may also use Joomla's native articles or Dynamic Content.

If you installed a Quickstart package, the template's demo pages and content are already set up for you. If you installed the standalone Template package, you'll need to create your pages and layouts yourself.

Note: A Template-only installation does not include the demo pages, articles, modules, or other demo content. SP Page Builder pages and subpages must be created from scratch.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • Your JoomShaper template installed
  • SP Page Builder installed
  • Access to SP Page Builder Pro if your template uses Pro features
  • Your own content and images ready

If you're new to Joomla or JoomShaper templates, exploring the pages and settings in a Quickstart installation can help you understand how the template is structured before building your own site.

Quickstart Pages

A Quickstart package includes the complete demo website, including the pages, content, modules, extensions, and template configuration used for the demo.

If the template uses SP Page Builder Pro, the Quickstart package includes the Pro version used by the demo.

After installation, you can open the existing pages in SP Page Builder to see how they were built.

You don't have to keep the demo content. It is provided to demonstrate the template's features and can be replaced or deleted once you start building your own website.

Create a New Page

If you're using the standalone Template package, you'll need to create your pages yourself.

To create a page with SP Page Builder:

  1. Go to Components > SP Page Builder > Pages.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter a title for your page.
  4. Build the page using sections, rows, columns, and addons.
  5. Add your content, images, buttons, and other elements.
  6. Configure the page settings.
  7. Save the page.

You can use SP Page Builder to create pages such as:

  • Home
  • About
  • Services
  • Contact
  • Landing pages
  • Other custom pages and subpages

The available addons and features depend on the version of SP Page Builder installed on your site.

Edit an Existing Page

To edit an existing SP Page Builder page:

  1. Go to Components > SP Page Builder > Pages.
  2. Find the page you want to edit.
  3. Open the page in the builder.
  4. Select the section, row, column, or addon you want to change.
  5. Update the content or settings.
  6. Save your changes.

You can use this workflow to customize demo pages included with a Quickstart installation or pages you've created yourself.

Use Joomla Articles

Not every page needs to be built entirely with SP Page Builder. JoomShaper templates can also use Joomla's native article system for content such as blog posts, news, and other regular website content.

Create and manage articles from the Joomla administrator area under Content > Articles.

Depending on the template, Joomla articles may be displayed through menu items, SP Page Builder addons, Dynamic Content, or template-specific layouts.

Use Dynamic Content

Some JoomShaper templates use Dynamic Content to display content from Joomla or other supported sources.

For example, a template may use Dynamic Content to display:

  • Blog posts
  • Testimonials
  • Team members
  • Portfolio items
  • Other collections or content

If your template uses Dynamic Content, follow the template-specific documentation to configure the relevant content source and display it on your page.

Recreate a Demo Page

If you're using the standalone Template package and want to recreate one of the demo pages, use the demo site as a reference.

You'll need to create the page structure yourself, including:

  • Sections and columns
  • Text and images
  • Buttons and links
  • Content blocks
  • Spacing and alignment
  • Page-specific styling
  • Dynamic content or article listings, where used

The template provides the overall design system, but the actual page content and layout need to be created on your Joomla site.

Add SP Page Builder Pages to Your Menu

Creating a page in SP Page Builder does not automatically add it to your website navigation.

To make a page accessible from your menu:

  1. Go to Menus in the Joomla administrator.
  2. Open the menu where you want to add the page.
  3. Click New.
  4. Select the appropriate menu item type.
  5. Choose the SP Page Builder page you want to display.
  6. Enter the menu title.
  7. Save the menu item.

You can then arrange your menu items and create parent-child relationships to build your site's navigation structure. Menu configuration is covered in more detail in Configure Menus & Modules.

SP Page Builder Pro

Quickstart packages include the full version of SP Page Builder Pro used by the demo site when the template requires it.

Access to the standalone Pro version and future updates depends on your JoomShaper membership or purchase. Depending on your plan, you may need to purchase SP Page Builder Pro separately to download the current standalone version and receive future updates.

Check Your Pages

After creating or editing your pages, preview them on the frontend and check:

  • Content and images
  • Page layout
  • Links and buttons
  • Spacing and alignment
  • Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts
  • Article or dynamic content
  • Menu links

Make any necessary adjustments before moving on to the rest of your site setup.

Before You Move On

Before continuing with your template customization:

  • Create or review your main pages
  • Replace demo content and images
  • Set up your SP Page Builder layouts
  • Configure Joomla articles where needed
  • Set up Dynamic Content where used
  • Add your pages to the appropriate menus
  • Check your pages on different screen sizes
  • Test all links and interactive elements

Your pages are now ready for the next step: customizing the template's layout, styles, header, footer, and responsive settings.
