Using A SP Page Builder Module

SP Page Builder 3 years ago

First time using a module, so please bear with. Seeing weird behaviour so thought I would mention it

Side comment: the “Show” label in the module should be expanded to “Show Title” as it is in other modules. Initially I thought that meant “Show the module” - I’m a bit dim, sorry :-)

  1. Created 2 column page, Left Col - Article Addons, Right Col - buttons
  2. Since I need 8 copies of this, just different categories, I exported page
  3. Then I realised since the button are just links to the other Articles pages I could just make a module with the buttons and put it to the right
  4. So I created a module, imported the page, deleted the Articles add-on, changed to 1 column so all I had left was the buttons.
  5. I want to see the where the module was so change the modules background to red

The first link is the initial 2 column page The second link is to another page, which had been imported from the first and I turned on the module. As you can see the red background of the module is being applied to the main component. They're both under the resources menu

Is this expected behaviour? Thanks very much for your time

Please check the mod list page from the page builder page.

I have added another page, without buttons, and a new module, where I created the Button Module from scratch as opposed to importing. Creating the module this way, when I made Row background Blue, Column Grey) it does not affect the component/main row as did the other export/imported one.

However I have noticed since I added the Module to the Right position, the main content has been pushed all the way to the Left. Is there any way to stop that from happening?

Ok, so this is reguarding module. The test pages, Articles add-ons are under Resources Menu, so you can see the issue

  • Top 20 page is the single page, no module
  • Guides page, is the module created by Exporting a page then importing into module and removing Articles add-on column
  • Mods page is creating a module by from scratch, not affecting the Articles add-on

Module names are Just Buttons (IMported) and List Module Buttons (From scratch)

The problem I am having with the lat one (and guides) is that the modules seems to be pushing the compononent (Articles Add-on) all the way to the left and I need that to not happen. Also happens wit the Guides page

Just thought I would add that I have the exact same behavior if I set the module on the Left. All other content is moved to the right. Its as if I only have 2 verical 'sections' (Buttons and Main Content) as opposed to the 3. Cheers

Sorry to be a bother, but this along with my tags issue hs sort of ground work on my website to a halt. Like with the Tags, I just need to know if using Left and Right positions is not doable with SP Page Builder Pro? If I can't using those positions with an SP PB Pro Module then I will need to work on another, less efficient solution. Either way, I just need to know so I can move on Thank you

I had to show the site to someone so I have moved the problem pages under the Issue menu. All the items under the Resources menu are basically the same page with different categories, very inefficient but had to show option so that is what did.

Another user of Helix has metioned that maybe I have issues because I am using a Quickstart installation.

If that is possible and I should start from scratch with separate Joomla, Helix and SP PB installs please let me know. I will go through the whole process but if it doesn't fix my problems I am not sure what to do then.

Please advise. Thank you

When you have copied one page the ID remains in the same of section. That's why the existing design will appear on your module. I have copied the existing page & delete the previous row. Now the background disappeared.

Note: Mainly this problem happens when section ID same

Thank you for fixing that but as an fyi I had figured (and mentioned) the problem might be because of the Export/Import process

My main problem now is the behavior where all the main component content is pushed to either left or right when I add a module there. The Guide Button is in a SP Builder Module with position Right.

If I need to change settings please let me know which ones, this is my first attempt Thank you for your time

Don't need a screen shot. The link below is to a page where I had 2 columns in a Page. Buttons on the right. Instead of needing 7 copies of all those buttons I wanted to create a module and put it in Right position, remoing those button from the Main Page.

The 2nd post (from above) is exactly that. The main Page changed to 1 column, and an SP Module with a single row and single button used in the Right Position

My goal was to replciate the 1st link using modules. But instead when I add a module, the main content is pushed all the way to the left. Here is an image in case you see something different when you got to the page https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KeZUdBUQ9LoacCrNmt9btPehDh-7E07e/view?usp=sharing

I have included login details but please don't just change things, I would much prefer you tell me what I need to do so I can make notes and learn and know in case I ever need to do it again

Ok, maybe this will work better. Image and links below.

The top browser is showing the page you changed (1st Link provided) which has the module on the right. See that the main content is against the left border and it doesn't line up with the Page Title text

The browser image below it (2nd link ) has no module on the Right and is just the main cntent which includes a 2nd column with buttons. Can you see the difference?

Also, you changed a page of mine and didn't tell me what you were doing. If you had said - before I do it I am going to add those buttuen to your right module' and I could have told you that wasn't the problem.

Just trying to save us both a bit of time. Thank again for your work

While I appreciate you taking the time to send me the image of what you changed, those steps are not fixing my problem which is that the right module pushes the main content over to the left window border. If you could do similar if you can fix the problem that would be helpful

Just thought I would add two more screen shots. This is looking at that page via the System > Site Templte > Preview option. You can clearly see the Left Position.

The next image is that same page viewed regularly. No Left Position

Just thought would give you update. It seems the issue is tied to the Articles Add-On. When I click on one of the article on the page that is broken, things are linned up as expected

The left position doesn't have any modules. That's why content displayed full width. If you want to do as like this page you can load your module inside the page builder page using module addon.

I am little bit confused what exactly do you want. You can make each and every page using page builder.

First could you please remove the link to my site from your post, it is not completed and you are point to a test page. Thank you.

Now, this is what I want https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mcX8hTtOlkOCpu1UAiGsRpM2JlNiVXAX/view

Now, this is NOT what I want https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hb1I_OuKs-_eNV5xI0KoiZu4DBxdBfZz/view

I find it hard to belive you can't not see the problem. Look at every page on my site. Every one of them includes space on the left and lines up with with a title if there is one... without a module on the left

When I use the Articles Add-on the content no longer lines up with the Page Tile and instead touches the left window bored. this is oviously a problem Article Add-on. If you cannot see that then I give up trying to show it to you.

After all the time and effort on both are parts atleast I will acknowledge that you cannot use the Articles Add-on with a Right module ONLY.

So now I know that, I can finally move on with my life, still have issue with tags but I am guessing I need to ove on with that too

Appologies for the rant, it has been a long day

I did watch the video and didn't see it fixed just the new button add with color changes

I must have been looking at the other page when I saw the Article Fixed. Can you please tell me what setting you changed as I assume its not a global one as the other page is still broken

Thank you and again please accept my apologies

If I understand correctly, to use an SP PG Module in the Position I would

  • I assign it to the I want position
  • Change Menu Assignment to No Pages
  • Then embed that module into each page I want it in

Yes? Well not ideal it does mean if I decided to move it to the left side or add/removeit from pages I have to go into each individual page to change it but it is better than what I did which was make 7 copies of the page and buttons. But it does allow me to change the style and content without having to go into each page

So, does this mean that I should'nt try to use the actaul Left and Right positions at all for my pages, just always add it to the SP PB Page?

Thank for you time on this I am sorry I took up do much of yours

Sorry I cannot do this at this time. In the current situation I am just keeping things as they are as I need to roll out a 'proof of concept' site. When I start working on the actual site I plan to create a subdomain and do a fresh install with Quickstart and just use Helix+SP PB Builder to see if that fixes any of my other issues.

I am happy to consider this matter closed and will post again in the future if I run into trouble with modules again on the new installation. Thank you for your time
