Slideshow Not Showing

Hi there,
I am having an issue whereby when I try add a slideshow to a page nothing appears.
I tried creating a new page and added it as the only addon, but the page only shows a single colum.
Is there some way I can try troubleshoot this?
The other addons are working ok, but I want to add a color overlay to the images and video displayed, and I believe this is only possible on the SlideShow.

Accepted AnswerJust to add, I can get to the slideshow settings by navigating to it from the layers section. It shows ok on the front page, just not via the editor.
