Opt-in Form Integration With SendGrid - Question | JoomShaper

Opt-in Form Integration With SendGrid

SP Page Builder 1 year ago

I dropped my SendGrid API in the Opt In Form for SP Page Builder. In the front end I get "Your subscription to our list has been confirmed. Thank you for subscribing!" but no emails are added to the sendgrid contact list.

Your Add On references, "Here is video tutorial": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShOQxpX7Dcw Click through and you'll see: Video unavailable

Does your Opt-in Form actually work with SendGrid or is this just another advertising feature that doesn't work?

So I take it that no response means that it's busted and no one cares?

Hi there,

Thanks for contacting us. Sorry for the inconvenience. Will you please provide me the Joomla administrator access to check the issue? I will check & get back to you soon.

-Thanks

Hello Toufiq,

No, I can't provide you with access for that but feel free to set up a test site using sendgrid for opt in and please let me know how you go.

Regards,

Mike

Yes, I got it to do that too.

Easy to get it to say, "Your subscription to our list has been confirmed. Thank you for subscribing!"

...But it doesn't actually add the address to the list in SendGrid. That's the real problem...

Many thanks Toufiq,

That looks good and I can confirm that mine is set up correctly.

The API is one thing but connecting your Opt In Form to the correct Sendgrid Sign Up List is where I need assistance. Just the API is not enough to achieve this. Sendgrid needs to know which list to add the opt in email address to.

Otherwise users will see "Thank you for subscribing!" but their emails will not be added to any or the appropriate Sendgrid list. I've tested this and can confirm it.

Would you be able to send me the login details for your Sendgrid account? That would be more helpful.

Thanks again.

But, there is no option specific feature option to add your email list.

Ok, if this is true then you shouldn't promote your opt in form as Sendgrid ready. It doesn't work. I spent a number of hours going through the set up until I finally drew this conclusion.

Sorry for the inconvenience. But, the basic function is included there. Specific Sendgrid list feature is not available.

That may be the case Toufiq but an API is not enough to assign an email to a Sendgrid list. It gives access to Sendgrids send and receive functionality but your Opt In form cannot be used to collect emails from an opt in form on a web site. I believe that you should thoroughly test functionality on a website between your opt in form and a Sendgrid list to test whether it actually works in the real world before assuming that it does and promoting it as functional. If it doesn't work... What good is it?

If you want to collect email addresses then you have to go your SendGrid. Cause, We just added the functionality to subscribe/newsletter purposes.

This is ridiculous.

The whole purpose of an opt in form is to collect email addresses... After all, it's a sign-up form.

RE: "We just added the functionality to subscribe/newsletter purposes." No you didn't.

You just created something that looks pretty but doesn't do anything.

Stop making false claims. Pull it down immediately.

It's so silly that you're willing to defend this great time waster which is absolutely useless.

OK, all good.

I'm using sendgrids html form in an iframe which is doing the job for now (this will also work for other Joomshaper users who need a solution in the intrim) but I will move to your opt in form once runnning down the track.

Many thanks for looking into this.

Oh, that's really good! Great stuff!!

Was just thinking, the Sendgrid iframe version has a recapture, "I'm not a robot" check box that can be a hindrance to new newsletter sign ups. I had a Joomla plugin for mailchimp that somehow got around that. I don't think spam will be an issue with your API version... But just pointing it out.

Many thanks again.

Hello Toufiq,

Hey, very nice.

Love that fact that users can hide the first name if required.

Looks like the "I'm not a robot" check box is mandatory?

I was hoping to get it looking something like this on the Pitech template. https://prnt.sc/mrwBW7apZswu Will the look be stylised like that?

Here's a shot of what it looks like using the sendgrid iframe method: https://prnt.sc/PDWn2Fca1lwY

The look is important and is the main reason I raised the situation with you.

So will the "I'm not a robot" check box be mandatory? Yes or No?

Also, will it pick up the design of the template... ie button? Yes or no?

Very nice Toufiq!

I did share it 4 above but here it is again: https://prnt.sc/mrwBW7apZswu

I'm sorry if I haven't made myself clear here.

The form you shared here: https://prnt.sc/XmbePzfQiqKX looks a bit bland so I was hoping that when finished, the new sendgrid opt in/newsletter sign up form will automatically be stylised to match/blend in with the selected Joomshaper template ( So if on Pitech, I'm hoping that it will look something like https://prnt.sc/mrwBW7apZswu in the front end not https://prnt.sc/XmbePzfQiqKX).

Best,

M

Hello Toufiq,

Have installed and works perfectly. Absolutely brilliant!

Many thanks again for an outstanding job.

For other users, Sendgrid doesn't show the List ID like Mailchimp does, but you can find it by doing this:

In Sendgrid, go Marketing > Contacts > Click on the contact list you want your Opt Ins to be added to > Then look at the URL you are currently on. For example: https://mc.sendgrid.com/contacts/lists/YOUR-SENDGRID-LIST-ID-IS-HERE

Copy YOUR-SENDGRID-LIST-ID-IS-HERE and paste it into the Sendgrid List ID field in your Joomshaper Opt-in Form Settings.
