SP Builder 4.0.4 & Joomla 4.2.2

When do you expect us to be able to use this tool effectively ? We are constantly running into issues with the user interface. I need to know if we need to start looking for a SP Builder Replacement, or if we can start using this tool professionally.

Here are the issues we just found today:

  • When loading SP Builder from Components, it constantly asks us to 'Get Started', and then it loads the page listing in a new window.
  • When we add a new page in the page listing, the new page does not appear until we do a forced refresh. There seem to be some weird caching in place here. Please note, we have ALL Caching disabled currently, and there really should not be caching in the administrator anyways.

Please let us know when you are planning on SP Builder Pro 4 being ready for commercial use - I feel like a beta tester, and this is not fair to my clients.

Sorry to tell you but we are all beta testing becuase, if you haven't heard, Bangledesh, where the company is based, is bankrupt. They have spotty internet and electricity. Some people don't even have proper computer equipment to do their work.

I sincerely hope this is not the case in regards to staff having good equipment but electricity and internet is something that is at the mercy of the local government utility.

I regret the day I upgraded from 3.x to 4.0.x.

I agree with all your deficiencies observations.

Today, I find that I am unable to update to 4.0.4.

It's reporting:

Error installing component
Copy failed

The file is just 2.9MB. Joomla is set to accept file as large as 8MB. So what's going?

@toufiq,

Here's a screencast of what I see TODAY. I don't know why but the scope of the issue has changed! The site is running 4.0.1. I didn't see this crash in the backend even on 2 days ago (Friday, September 10).

At any rate, please have a look at this latest problem.

After you have upgraded to 4.0.4, please check that it didn't break the index page and that the backend of SPPB work. If it broke it, and you can't fix it, please let me know so I can restore a copy, ok?

It seems you didn't do anything. Not even upgrade my site to 4.0.4. It is why I need you to see why this version upgrade will break the site! Please do it.
