Lost Home Page While Updating A Layer In SP Builder And Server Lost Connection

Okay. I am new to SP Page Builder. Anyway, I spent hours - almost a whole day refining a home page - and I was updating a layer and for whatever reason I lost connection to my server. It blinked or something. However, now my home page seems to be entirely gone? I only get the footer. All my other pages are okay. I am running Joomla 4.2.4. SP Page Builder 4.0.6.

Perhaps related, I seem to constantly have to rename .htaccess to htaccess.txt to restart things and then rename it back for URLs, otherwise my admin panel keeps breaking. Hmm.

So I was a long time Joomla 3 guy and never used a page builder before now. With Joomal 4, seems like there are lot of issues. Please, however, I am open to learn the errors of my ways.

Hi Matthew,

ABout "I lost connection to my server. "

is not a extension issue, I suggest to contact with server support. They have to check error logs.

About .htaccess file, if you do not have caching rules inside , it's not a good idea to rename that file so often as you probably did. I haven't seen yours file, so I can only guess.

Joomla 4.2 is still a fresh CMS version, but in most cases it's very solid, stable.

With all due respect, that doesn't explain why an entire web page built with SP Page Builder, the home page no less, is simply gone? There is no way to recover this? All the layers. All the tweaks. All the modules. This lost during a connection issue? That is really hard to fathom.

Also, I admin the web server. It's a rented VDS and I have other sites on it. That is how I knew there was server thing that lasted only a split second. No issues with my other sites and no htacess issues. This seems to be something I am experiencing with Joomla 4 and SP Page Builder.

It's hard to say why, but Joomla extensions do not have reovery mode like MS Office that allows you to recover not saved, crashed document. You couldn't save or page crashed during saving?

Unfortunatley, I was in the middle of editing a layer. Then, I got a server lost connection. Like I said it was brief. When I refreshed, I was logged out of the Joomla admin. Then, the page was gone. But, the confounding thing is I didn't even have the last saved version of this page. I did have a working draft up for a couple days. So the whole page was gone. I was suprised the whole page got blown up.

I think my reasonable user expectation was that I would at least get something that was saved previously.

For example, I recall updating a Squarespace site (not a huge fan), when I was actually logged out of it. I did some chjanges and hit save and it told me I was logged out and I lost my last edits because I wasn't logged in. I have no trouble with that behavior (serves me right), but if my earlier versions were simply destroyed, that would be most unexpected.

Sadly, my only recourse might be to recover my beautiful SP Builder Home Page on the event horizon of a black hole.

On the positive, I do like the SP Page Builder tool very much. I am hopeful I can recreate my page quite quickly now that I am more familiar with the tool.

Refresh always means reload page, and you will always lose all data/changes, in all extensions, also core ones, like Article!
