PageBuilder Collected Joomla Article List Broken

Hello,

In SP Page Builder I am using the SP Page Builder Articles Addon to show a list of Joomla standard articles from a Joomla category.

With a bit of CSS tweaking I have the list showing (sort of) the way I want. Just a simple list of titles that you can choose from to then display the article you want.

Yes, it is collecting the list of articles in the specific category via the Articles Addon, but none of the links actually work. When clicked, they all display 404 errors.

SP Page Builder > PageName: "Leadership Training Articles" - At bottom of page there is a row entitled Joomla Articles From Category - Accordion

Joomla Articles edited using the SP Page Builder switch in the standard Joomla articles section.

Joomla: 3.10.11 SP PageBuilder Pro: 3.8.9 Template: Luxyort

Would someone be able to take a look and see what could possibly be breaking the links please.

Hello,

I think this problem may be tied to a conflict with using "Search Engine Friendly URLs" and also "Use URL Rewriting" ???

The url coming from SP Page Builder wants to look like this:

https://domain.tld/component/content/article/article-name?catid=19&Itemid=101

This breaks the article link.

In testing, I have linked to the joomla article directly, and the URL should look like this:

https://domain.tld/categoryname/article-name

I really hope I dont have to turn off Search Engine Friendly URLs... Any thoughts ?

I think I have figured it out.

I have created several separate menus dedicated to each of the joomla article categories, and have made a menu item for each article in the category. A bit of work to say the least. Even though this menu is effectively 'hidden', the "Articles" Addon list in SP Page Builder is now working and linking correctly.

For places that I am using a link directly in a SP Page Builder page, such as a text link, a button, heading, well, really most any Addon in SP Page Builder, you have to remember the structure of the link and put it in manually.

I have often wondered, and still wonder, why JoomShaper only allows for hard linking/absolute URLs in their Addons. This is a significant pain and increases effort and time spent by a lot.

If you could consider building into your Addons the option of selecting from a joomla menu item instead of just using a hard link, that would be significant.

As a side note, having the ability to link to a joomla menu item also comes with the (not so small) benefit of being able to change the SP Page Builder Page name "after the fact", or make a correction to the Page name and Joomla will automatically keep the link intact. Using absolute URLs/hard linking, it just breaks.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi there!

Glad that you have found it. Yes, you need to create category menu item to be able to see the aticles details page, it's core Joomla feature though.

Moreover, button has url/menu/page options to link if this is what you wanted :
