I've created a page and added SlideShow section, from SlideShow5 in Section library. I have replace two pictures (ok), and the last one by a local MP4 Video. But when looking a the web site, the video don't show. Using v5.0.5, but was the same with v5.0.1 and v5.0.2.

I have encoded the video using Nero Recode and Android Phone profil : 1270x720, AVC/H.264, Duration 00:06, Size less than 2MB

For info, if I put a link to a yt video, it works.

Any hints ?

PS : By the way, I'm also have trouble to delete the Video files using Media Manager, but this may need another question...

I often have the problem that my created videos (mp4) do not run in PageBuilder. This is probably due to the codec, which is not supported by PB. But I don't know exactly what the problem really is. If I play my created videos on the PC (Windows Media Player, VLC, etc. or in the browser directly) everything is correct and videos work. If I upload them, they don't play in PB. Here is a solution, though:

What always works is when I convert my movies (whatever format) to mp4 using the WinX Video Converter tool. Yes, even the movies that I have already created directly as mp4. I convert them anyway. Another advantage of the tool is that the videos are reduced and, with the right setting of WinX, the movies have hardly visible quality loss.

I do not want to advertise here, but for me WinX this is the only solution how I can run my movies in PB!!!!

German https://www.winxdvd.com/hd-video-converter-deluxe/index-de.htm English https://www.winxdvd.com/hd-video-converter-deluxe/ The website is also available in several languages.

Please try WinX once, if it works, then. There is a free version on the site. I myself bought the lifetime license years ago.

I hope I could help you :)

Hi Christian, thanks for advice. I've just tried with WinX with the same result: In fact, no...previously I only had a blank screen, now I can see an error message, then a blank screen. What settings are you using to export the Video ? (You are right, this might be related to codec...)

Thx, Fab

In slideshow only supported video formats are "mp4", "webm" and "ogg". Please try with any of these 3 types of videos.

Thank You.

Hi, thanks for the info. I'm currently using MP4, that I have encoded with WinX (Thx Christian) as mpeg4 for Android phone, but the result is the same. I've tried to delete the slide, create a new one : same Create a new one, set on youtube : it works; back to local : Error <- in that situation it appears that the yt js file is still loaded, could it be an error at save time for the slide ?

I've changed the resolution, the encoders (MS ClipChamp, Nero Encode, WinX, ... ) same result. I must admit I'm a bit lost here, but I will try to change the video type and keep you informed.

Hi, I finally managed it to work : Export the video with WinX, as Samsung S8/S9 video, it's ok. I have uploaded the video with media manager, and a direct link in the url points to a file that my browser can show.

But.... I duplicate a slide with image, replace the image by a local video, save... No video, and btw no mp4 in the generated HTML.

Create a new slide, set a local video.. it works

So there must be something wrong when saving the slide.

I have a workaround, but this would be great to correct it.

Thx

Hello Fabrice,

please excuse me for not specifying the exact settings.

First, drag and drop your video into the main WinX window. In the next window that pops up, select Output Profiles -> General Profiles and select "MP4 Video". Click OK.

In the main window, uncheck the Hardware Encoder box and check the "Use High Quality Engine" box. This will convert slower, but the quality will be much better. (In the purchased version, this is much faster).

Press RUN and the movie will be created ready to run.

Another tip: If you finish a movie with an editing program, and you might get a file extension with .MP4 (capital letters), this is already an indication of a certain codec. A .MP4 will not(!) work in PB after uploading.

WinX will also convert the .MP4 file (or other file bindings) to an .mp4 (lower case) and it will be correct.

I hope everything works out well and I look forward to your feedback.

Many greetings Christian :))

Addendum: mpeg4 is not correct. You have to create a .mp4 with WinX. These movies can then be built into PB. Work then also in backgrounds.

On my website you can find quite a lot of movies about it. Here is an example: https://www.darwin-vom-elsebachtal.de/darwins-news/fruehlingswanderung-triff-mich-und-andere-kooikerhondje In this example, the movie starts at 0:38 sec. Before that, only sound (German) can be heard. This is intentional and not a mistake. :)))
