David, I don't know how much of the template-specific VirtueMart stuff is on your site. I didn't have any, I was just using the other Joomshaper elements. It took a little work to switch to a different template (I moved it to Helix Ultimate) and then update everything, but VirtueMart updated and works exactly the same for me on the new template.
I suspect if you used the VirtueMart-specific elements in MegaDeal II your upgrade will take more work to transition those over to some other element that will work.
I too think that Joomshaper should at least continue to support the MegaDeal II-specific VirtueMart elements in the future even if they don't include VirtueMart by default, just to support their customers who relied on their statements that it would be supported. That doesn't seem to be where this is heading, though.
Personally, I think this is a bad business decision for other reasons. Some Joomshaper customers (like me) don't want to be locked into a new custom proprietary e-shop solution that will have us relying on Joomshaper to be on top of security and features (and who might decide not to support it in the future). I prefer an open-source, mature solution like VirtueMart or Hikashop or whatever that has more of a chance of longevity and support. So I am now unlocked from Joomshaper for my ecommerce site.
