Uploading WEBP Files In Blog Media

I'm having issues with uploading webp files in the Blog Media section of articles. I have it set in options and can upload via the 'Image and Links' section with no issues. Is this a known issue? This is a fresh install, with no additional extensions installed. I am able to upload all image types to this section except webp. Please advise
