(!) Bug SPPB 5 - "Check Out" Not Working As Expected

SP Page Builder 1 month ago

We're working on a large Joomla Site with many users and have issues with Checked out items in SPPagebuilder 5 Backend. It is currently possible to open, edit and save a page at the same time with multiple users which can lead to chaos, as all changes get overwritten.

  • When working in the backend, no "checked out" flag is set at all - When "User A" starts editing a Page, "User B" does not even see that the page is currently worked in (No Lock-Icon is displayed)
  • When a page is edited in Frontend, the "checked out" Flag is set correctly and Frontend editing is not possible for other users - The lock symbol is correctly displayed in backend, but it is possible to open and edit the page in backend editor
  • As soon as the page is edited in the backend editor, no further checks are done before saving to the database. Some kind of check, if current user equals current checked out user would seem appropriate...

Please check and fix - The "Check Out" feature has been an important core element of joomla for years and i would expect any component to use the default behaviour.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this oversight. To better address the issue, could you kindly provide Joomla administrator access? Besides, Can you share a screencast video about the full scenario?

I appreciate your cooperation and will ensure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Toufiqur Rahman (Team Lead, Support)

Hi Toufiq,

admin access to our sites should not be nessesary - this affects all installations. i created a screencast video, see hidden content.

Thanks!

We will improve it. But, you can controll the user access or user edit permission using ACL function.

Hi Toufiq,

thanks for your reply - however, this is NOT an issue regarding ACL!

On the contrary - All pages have to be editable by all backend users, but it should not be possible to edit the same page at the same time, as is standard behaviour in joomla since 15+ years (see for example here: https://www.joomlashack.com/blog/joomla/what-does-checked-out-mean-in-joomla/).

As far as i remember this also always worked in SPPB 3.

Thanks!

I have informed our developer team. I hope they will add this feature in the future update. Thanks
