I have created a contact form in the Page Builder Pro 5.4.4 (latest Helix Ultimate-Template) and am using the classic math puzzle as a spam protection measure. The form works without any issues, and emails are successfully received through it.

However, the volume of spam has increased significantly in recent times. To address this, I installed the "Friendly Captcha" plugin in my Joomla 5 installation and set it as the default captcha in Joomla's settings. This integration works seamlessly within Joomla itself and adheres to GDPR requirements.

I can also select this captcha as the spam protection method in the Page Builder’s contact form. Unfortunately, when I fill out and attempt to submit the form, nothing happens: no email is sent, and the form simply resets.

Since this is a captcha integrated with Joomla, there seems to be a standard interface in place that allows all captchas to function properly if they adhere to it. Therefore, it should be possible for Joomla captchas—regardless of the type—to work within the Page Builder.

How can this issue be resolved? What additional information would be helpful to narrow down the problem?

Thank you for sharing the details about the issue. From your description, it seems the integration between Friendly Captcha and Page Builder Pro’s contact form might not be functioning as expected.

To resolve this, I recommend:

  1. Verifying that Friendly Captcha is properly configured in Joomla’s Global Settings and the Page Builder Pro contact form addon.
  2. Checking for any JavaScript or PHP errors using Joomla’s debug mode from global configuration and your browser’s developer tools.
  3. Ensuring all extensions, including Joomla, Page Builder Pro, and Friendly Captcha, are updated to their latest versions.

By now, only ReCapatcha v2 invisible and H-Captacha is supported by SPPB Pro - only those two!

  • Friendly Captcha is correctly configured and also works with Joomla's own contact form.
  • There are no errors in the console.
  • All components are up to date (J 5.2 / SPB 5.4.2).

I think it would be useful if the page builder pointed this out internally, because I can select the captcha in the settings of the form.

Please add this to the error or wish list, because it would be desirable to remove the restrictions on certain captcha systems. Thanks.
