I would publish 2nd module language switcher in "offcanvas" position. Then it will be displayed in in Mobile [=] Menu, where all people may see it.

One more question, the language switch works well on a laptop, on a phone, I do have the language flags, but both remain Dutch. I have configured NL and GB under template options - navigation. What am I still missing?

On Mobile emulator I see that. I suggest check settings of that module, you can choose different views.

Besides using Custom CSS - you can customize that view a little bit, according to client needs, but don't step out of line, or the client will keep you busy for far too long.
