SP Page Builder 9 months ago

Hello, I updated SP Page Builder from 3.8.10 to 5.3.2. It is is causing several issues. How can I downgrade back to 3.8.10 so that I can perform gradual updates rather than junping all the way to v5? Thanks

Are you sure that you used PRO version, not Lite? And database from date/time BEFORE installing SPPB 5.x?

Maybe in your case you have to recover whole site.

But before remember to delete or rename those folders:

  • administrator\components\com_sppagebuilder
  • plugins\system\sppagebuilder
  • plugins\content\sppagebuilder
  • plugins\content\sppagebuilderloadmodule

Hi

Thanks for contacting us. You can downgrade by downloading and installing version 3.8.10. Please make sure you have backup before doing any changes. You can get older versions from here:

https://www.joomshaper.com/downloads/extension/sp-page-builder-pro-next

If you want to downgrade from SPPB 5.3.2 to SPPB 3.x - some pages that you edited using SPPB 5.0.x can be damaged becuase of different code structure between those. So I strongly recommend to recover database from the day before of SPPB 5.x installation. Or at least recover only table with prefix_sppagebuilder from that backup.

-Regards.

Thanks, I have not done any editing to pages under SPPB 5. I just tried to install version 3.8.10 and I got an error:

Warning

JInstaller: :Install: Error SQL Duplicate column name 'ordering' Extension Update: SQL error processing query: DB function failed with error number 1060 Duplicate column name 'ordering' SQL = ALTER TABLE #__sppagebuilder_sections ADD ordering int(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0' AFTER section;

Now my site is completely down and I only get blank pages.

Dont you have backup? As I mentioned earlier you must have backup. By the way, you can install the previous version and start your work.

I do have a backup, I just didn't want to go through that entire process of restoring a backup as it isa a large web site. But, I will do that if that is the only option to downgrade SPPB

SPPB 3.8 and SPPB 5.x has a little bit different database structure.

So I suggest :

  1. Recover only database from backup,
  2. Then reinstall SPPB component using old version 3.8.10.

Thanks, I have restored the database, and re-installed version 3.8.10. Now rather than blank pages, I get an error:

0 Call to undefined method SpPgaeBuilderBase::getArticleTags()

On the Joomla administrator side, pages are fine, but I did notice under SPPB admin the "Get Pro" menu item now appears and the "Options" section has the "License & Update" tab missing

Thanks, yes I have an agency subscription since 2018, so it is Pro.

I tried deleting those and reinstalling SPPB 3.8.1 and still getting the same error. Please take a look if you can:

Thank you so much! This is why I'm stuck on Joomla 3, I mess things up when I try to apply updates.

Indeed, you have old plugins that make some code mess.
