20 Seconds Loading Time For “Articles + New & Save Articles” - SP Page Builder 6

AB

Andreas Becker

SP Page Builder 1 month ago

Problem 1: The site generally works at a similar speed, but when I click on

  • Articles New
  • Change category in article
  • Save article

it always takes between 20 and 30 seconds for anything to happen. Before the update, this always worked without delay.

Question 1: Is this a known problem? Question 2: If not, I would mirror the site and then I would create an account for you.

Problem 2: The Media Manager seems to have a problem in Firefox now. Folders are not displayed correctly and some folders are even missing completely?

In Chrome, however, everything looks normal and all folders are still available. The website also loads all images and media correctly. https://www.directupload.eu/file/d/9047/glm4npkv_jpg.htm

Question 1: Is this a known issue? I deleted all my data/cache in Firefox and Joomla, but the problem persists.

Best regards

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out. Regarding the first issue, it is not something within our control. For the second issue, I have checked using Firefox, but I did not find any problem on my end.

Best regards,

Toufiqur Rahman (Team Lead, Support)

We're also having problem 1 on one of our sites. After updating SP Page Builder to version 6, it became very slow (20-30 seconds) when:

  • Opening an existing article
  • Opening a new article
  • Saving the article Everything else works fine. On the public site, I reinstalled the previous version (SP Page Builder 5.7.2) and it started working quickly again. Can you help us resolve this issue, thank you.

I'm including links to the test site where version 6 is still installed.

I have checked your Page Builder pages, and they’re running very smoothly and quickly. I also noticed that your site has Page Builder 6 installed.

Thank you for the further report and for letting me know that I am not alone with this problem. Apparently, I am the problem and not the Joomla 6 update... With the backup and the previous version, everything works fine for me again. Unfortunately, I cannot work with the update to version 6.

@cdf12345 I can see your hidden content with the test page, username, and password... for whatever reason.

Could you kindly grant me access to your Joomla administrator area so that I can investigate the issue you're experiencing? Prior to providing access, please ensure that you have backed up your site. Additionally, it's important to note that providing login credentials is entirely voluntary on your part; we respect your decision either way. However, if you do choose to share the login details, it would greatly expedite the resolution process. Thank you for your cooperation.

Just to clarify again. The site itself is running well.

It's a backend issue. Content -> Articles -> “New” -> Loading time 10–30 seconds

Second field in Article “Category” -> Switch -> 10–30 seconds

Save Article -> 10–30 seconds

After switching back to the old SP Page Builder version, everything works immediately without delay.

Maybe take a look at the test page from user cdf12345. It seems to have the same bug. Otherwise, I would mirror my page next Monday and then provide the login details.

I've set up the download option on Google Drive for those with links. I've tried it on multiple browsers, including incognito, and I'm having no problems downloading the backup. If you still can't download it, you can download it directly from Akeeba Backup (in the first post, I provided the administrator username and password).

Unfortunately, I'm very busy right now, but it seems like more people are having this problem. Maybe you could just pass on the information again. I really need to recreate all of this on the test server.

I received this email with interesting and useful observations. He is back on 5.7.2 right now. Nevertheless, it might be interesting.

... I have had the same problem with version 6 and finally I had to downgrade to version 5.7.2.

I have found out that the problem were producing dynamic content, more precisely when you have dynamic content index page which is on some dynamic text field linked to dynamic content detailed page.

...

the system would produce thousands of duplicate queries (in my case over 20 000) which consume all the recourses which caused page crashing or if it's not crashed I had the same situation in the backend (slow adding new articles or editing the existing ones - almost 60 sec and also changing category). ...

So I've backuped my site and tested locally. Problem witch beckend has not appear (peobably because of higher recourses on my local VM) but links on detailed pages were very slow and each click would be produce CPU usage going to 100%.

Finally I have found that the problem is in SEF URLs.

If I turn off SEF URLs that dynamic content links to detailed pages works very fast - just in sec or less.

So my conclusion is that Joomshaper maybe produce some bug in routing because I saw in the changelog of the version 6 that they have item: Fix: Fixed SEF multilingual page routing issues. ...

Hope this helps the team with bug fixing. Best regards

We’re aware of the performance issue and are actively working to resolve it. Our team is investigating the root cause, including SEF URL handling and Dynamic Content behavior. Please allow us some additional time — the optimization will be included in an upcoming release after version 6.1.0.

it always takes between 20 and 30 seconds for anything to happen. Before the update, this always worked without delay.

I don't know if this is permanent, but after updating Helix Ultimate to the new version, the problem of long waiting times seems to have disappeared for now. The entire website is also loading much faster again.
