Dynamic Content And Subcategories Or Subitems

Not sure how to describe this, but I am curious about the possibility to categorize content a bit fuhrter. Just think about recipes, would it be possible to include this in a subcategory (either style of way off preparing). Same for example 'houses' where you could add subcategories like appartments, villas and stuff.
I would be a great future to use 'subcategories' within the main category.
Also curious about your thoughts on this.
