Hello Joomshaper-Team, first of all a happy new year to all of you.

I am facing a strange behaviour with one of my customer websites. When I try to make an update to a page simply changing text in a text field, the page crashes when I try to save the changes. I get the message "Your session has expired! Please login again to continue. If you reload this page, you may lose your date." The session has definetly not expired, as I ffreshly entered the backend and opened the editor. The only option to escape is to close the editor and all my changes are gone.

I faced a similar behaviour with another page, where the whole content ewas gone and has been replaced with content from the initial template.

The ssituation is a bit weard and difficult to explain. Hope you can follow. Do oyu have any idea why this is happening?

Kind regards Juergen

Hi Juergen,

Problem is with Joomla Session time or used method.

In Joomla Global Configuration > System (tab):

  • Session Lifetime (minutes) : 60
  • Session Handler: if you have Database , try with Filesystem

Save & Close > Test

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Could you please share temporary administrator access to your Joomla backend? You can provide the credentials securely in the hidden content section. Also, please take a full backup of your site before we make any changes.

Once I have access, I’ll investigate further and see what’s causing the issue. Let me know once you’ve shared the details!

Best regards,

Hi Paul,

thank you for your quick response. I changed the session handler to File System as you proposed and now the issue is solved. Not sure why this is, but this is the only customer website which is hosted by Strato, and it is the first time that I use file system as session handler. I never came across this issue with any other website and any other hoster.

Thanks again Jürgen
