Need a good pick up option for people who pick up in person. I get there's a "free shipping" option, but there are a couple of issues:

• It still requires a shipping address, and there isn't one.
• Getting the taxes applied correctly for the pick up option requires you to put in the sales location address to make sure that the region/state is keyed off correctly for the pick-up/free shipping option.
• It's a cludgey work around that isn't intuitive to customers.

There's should be a shipping option that you select as "Pick From Store: " {location} where you can define the location of the pickup address in the backend as an option. That address can be then used as the basis for tax calculation from the tax table. You could then also have multiple pickup locations if you run multiple storefronts, potentially in different tax codes.
