Unpublish Vs 404 ?

Hi there,

When i unpublish (hide) a page via the standard Joomla pages (Navigation Content or Menus) they are not shown anymore in the web page, but with a direct link, are still accessible.

When i do the same via PageBuilder, working on the pages of our Joomshaper template, they are still shown but the link yields a '404'.

For some reason, while we are building the page, i would prefer the later behavior (to keep the menu structure even for pages not yet completed) and we definitely do not want direct links access (possibly accessed by bots) any contact or registration forms.

Now the one question is, why does Page Builder -> Pages only show the template pages, and not anything else which is enabled in the frontend ?

And the more important question is, how can we set 404 even for pages not managed by Page Builder.

Hi Sophia,

I have better idea for time of developing, just set access to Register only - then google/bing bot will be not able to index those pages or menu items - seeing only 403 "Forbidden"

And you as logged webmaster (anyway) will be able to edit & preview.

Later in premiere day you will only switch to Guest ACL and that's all. I do it all the time.

I also use 2nd trick/hack, but it's beyond joomshaper support.
