Educon II - Why So Many Options For Position Of The Modules?

Hello,

I have noticed that there are many options, sometimes duplicates, for the position of modules in the Ecucon II template, and I'd like to ask why or what the purpose of them is?

For example, I tried to replace in the layout section of the Helix Ultimate Framework to set the bottom to just "bottom", as it is set to "bottom1". But there are also bottom2, bottom3, bottom4? When I tried to do that in the Layout section, and updated the module position to "bottom" as well, it will not appear on any page anymore... Is it somewhere set hardcoded that "bottom1" has to be there?

Also, there are positions like position1, position2, position3, ... - what is the purpose of them?

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out.

The module positions included with the Educon II template are provided to offer greater flexibility when building your site's layout. Positions such as bottom1, bottom2, bottom3, and bottom4 are predefined module positions used by the template, and some of them may already be assigned within the default layout or demo content.

If you rename a position in the Layout Builder (for example, changing bottom1 to bottom), you'll also need to ensure that the corresponding layout and any modules assigned to that position are updated accordingly. Otherwise, modules assigned to the new position may not be rendered as expected.

As for positions like position1, position2, position3, etc., these are generic module positions provided by the template. They are not tied to a specific section and can be used wherever you need additional module placement, giving you more flexibility when customizing your layout.
