I have this doubt for a long time. Does the photo gallery have no caption option? Or is there another way to display captions in photo gallery?

Which template you are using, please?

Actually, the item title works as an alt tag and only appears while the image can not be loaded for some reason.

So, you can try the SP Easy Image Gallery instead if it serves your purpose:)

I always put a title on the photo, but I've never seen it on the site, see this example.
