This is happening to Joomla too not just in our template. After some investigation, I could not find any solution to this. If you have SEF turned on, then all bad links redirects to the homepage. Please let us know if you find any solution to this. Also check this from my investigation.

I find what couse this problem.

I home page is a component like SP page builder on homepage by default.

404 page not working. I can write /34343/3434343 and always redirect to home.

But if i go to article /article-1/34353543 show 404.

This is a bug SP Pagebuldier 3.7.15
