someone on the joomla italia FB group had suggested disabling the JCE plug-in but I solved it by simply setting the arial font for the navigation menu. you can find it in the template settings under Typography

Hello, I think I've found the solution :) Even if you have offcanvas menu enabled with the previous version (Helix ultimate Framework 1.1.4), after updating to new version you need to enable it again in the new template going to menu / offcanvas. Once saved everything works.
