I have the same problem: no frontend editing. Preview is fine. No JCE editor to be disabled. Only menu (at top) and footer (bottom) is visible in frontend editing mode.

After your update message, we tried it again and now we can actually do cloning.

However, this solution by disabling the JCE editor does not serve us because we want to use an editor with more features than the default editor of joomla.
