1. Basically: I don't want to have front-end editting at all. I am looking to switch it off for all user-roles the easiest way.
2. But when it is fairly easy to keep the front edetting privilage for the super-admin, that would be nice.

I think you have to use custom CSS to hide "Edit page" on front-end and "Front-end editor" button in admin area.

This method is safe, and you don't have to edit any php file.
And yes, as extra step change Permissions (ACL) for all pages.

Or you can do this.

Joomla 4 Administrator Page - > system -> User Permissions - > Setting

Sample. You can close the Administrator group.

Edit: Denied

Of course, you should do this to the admin panel and the people you authorize on the frontend. Normal user can't see anyway.
