Hi,

I don't understand how Helix Ultimate template work together with SP Page Builder Pro. Are there two different template systems?

I really like SP Page Builder Pro, but I don't seem to be able to combine it with Helix Ultimate. How do I solve this?

Regards, Meindert

Hoi,

  1. Helix Ultimate - is Joomla template
  2. SP Page Builder is component + module - that allows you to create custom content in component area and/or module positions.

Maybe start with video tutorial for beginners >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcS5DzegE0s of course there are more clips >> https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Helix+Ultimate

Sorry, but nobody written a book about Page Builders for Joomla yet.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your reply.

I'm well acquainted with Joomla (now also the 4 version) and I get along well with Page Builder Pro.

What I find strange, however, is that when I make my site www.visitsexbierum.nl with the Helix Ultimate template, it goes well. Only when I go to the Page Builder Pro component I don't see the pages and menus created with Helix. I only see a homepage and a separate page that I made in PBP.

Somehow I miss the link between PBP and Helix. I think it's a setting somewhere, but I can't figure out where to look yet.

I can't seem to get it right with the YouTube videos. In addition, these (for me) go very fast in English :-(

Do you have a handy tip for me?

I am also not a big fan how the HELIX is married with SPB. The two are like separate products from separate vendors. Interface is different and it is really poorly documented (I mean Helix). The documentation applies to old versions and it is really very confusing the get the head around how it interacts with the SPB.

There are also some verserious glitches. For example I created a article with SPB. Since I have full version of JCE editor, when I opened the page (on the fron) I was able to see 2 buttons. One for SPB and one for JCE - to edit. SPB button works fine but once I clicked on JCE editor and the page opened, I wat NOT ABLE to go back and edit this same page in SPB again. I had to revert to the previous copy of the article to be able to use SPB. That really sucks, but I am hoping I do not understand or know something, because if this is how it works IT IS A PLAIN ROAD TO DISASTER.

When HELIX is installed along with the SPB, the defaylt Heared and Footer look like they are from another CMS (read: another planet). Matching the header style with the page is pain on the but. This is really not well designed OR at least needs to be rebuild in the future so the HELIX framework can inherit the styles from active template. At this moment it looks like they are completely disconnected.

After playing with HELIX for 5 days I still do not know how to change the HEADER styling. There are some options but none of them applies to Fonts, colors, etc... I have seen some info about using CSS but I hope this is not how it supposed to done. I have not bought SPB to do the tedious work with CSS code. I need speed and convenience and that is what I am paying for. I do not want to criticize it because I am hoping this is something that I simply do not know how to do,... so let's seek what will come up from this,...

I hope however this might be helpful for developers in the future to make some important improvements.

Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your anwer. I'm glad I'm not the only one with problems with the combination Helix and SPB. What template do you use with Joomla 4?

I tried a few as I'm recreating some older websites. At the moment one that I will probably use permanently is: Luxyort. It seems to me one should better stay off the complete site templates as it brings lots of issues and use only templates for PAGES/Articles.

I am using J4 and Belix4, perhaps J3 and older Helix version do not have those issues. I noticed at least a dozen of things which do not work as expected, but lickily they are not so crucial so there are some workarounds.

I tried Lyxyort too, but I only get the error: "Sorry, there was a problem we could not recover from. The server returned a "500 - Whoops, looks like something went wrong."

I don't know Belix4. Who makes this template?

Sorry, but we don't support templates they are not 100% from us. Some of them are poorly written, not fully ready for all components. Changing everything from Template option is a good thing, I understand that some user don't know CSS. Now are different times than it was 5-10-15 years back.

Always all issues you should check on Joomla default template as well. In Joomla 4 - Casopeia - should that one.
