Bringing an update to our products with new functionalities and improvements is a continuous process. Whenever we release an update, the common question pops up on everyone’s mind is what new features and improvements are coming to which of our products. This time, we are adding GDPR compliance and bringing improvements to some of our Joomla components.
Making your website and all extensions with it GDPR compliant is definitely the first and foremost thing you should have in mind as a webmaster. To make the process easier at your end, we already have released SP Cookie Consent, a free extension that sets up cookie notice on your site asking explicit visitors consent.
We did not end there. As a part of this process to help you with GDPR compliance, we are updating our templates and extensions on a regular basis.
What this update is really about
As mentioned earlier, this update is mainly adding GDPR compliance and bringing improvements to some of our Joomla extensions. Let’s see which of our Joomla extensions are being updated and what are being added to them.
GDPR compatibility
As you know, GDPR is mostly about users’ data and the ways you process them on your site. Our updated Joomla extensions now have system to ask visitors to know or agree to your privacy policy whenever users are required to input data on website. The GDPR compliant Joomla extensions are:
- SP Property - The real estate extension for Joomla
- SP LMS - The Joomla learning management system

Improvements and fixes
Some of our Joomla extensions also got several improvements and fixes. Search module and backend sorting system have been improved in SP Property. Fetching items from inner category issue and duplicate module issue have been fixed in SP Easy Image Gallery along with an option to show/hide image description in image listing. In SP Eventum, we’ve added a backend filter (Speaker, Schedule) to sessions and a frontend item order system to the schedules. So, the improved Joomla extensions in this update are:

Many of such updates are underway thanks to our developers who make this possible for you all.
Maybe I miss the point, but what is your solution for GDPR compliant Cookie consent?
In order to be compliant, you have to distinguish between necessary cookies and other cookies (e.g., Google etc) and to get consent BEVOR you set the other cookies. Then, the user must have the chance to alter hus choice later.
Soon, in next update which will add more features related with GDPR law. Current version (1.0) doesn't block any cookies.
I would suggest that you communicate in a more precise manner, just to avoid missunderstanding: you are not "adding GDPR compliance". It is still not possible to be compliant just with Joomla & Joomshaper stuff. I do not say it in order to attack you, but the reader should be informed about the important matter.
We don't have the authority to 'add' compliance now, do we? :p
All Rayhan meant was to say that we will enhance the cookie to make it more compliant with GDPR regulations. The issue has been brought under light many times, and is bound to undergo improvements.
Thanks!
