Update: Helix Ultimate 1.1.2 is Here with Font Awesome 5, Page Enhancement, and Several Fixes & improvements

Hello Helix Ultimate users! Your most desired Helix Ultimate update (v1.1.2) is finally here. This time, we’ve updated Helix Ultimate with Font Awesome 5, page enhancement, and several fixes & improvements. At JoomShaper, we listen to the users more and bring features & improve performance accordingly. Today's Helix Ultimate update is a reflection of what our users wanted and recommended us to do at different times. I am sure, you all are going to like what it is going to bring.

Helix Ultimate v1.1.2 will improve your overall experience and enable you to use Font Awesome 5. Also, from now on, you will be able to use “alt” tag with blog feature images. Alongside that, there are a lot more things in this update. Let’s take a look at the changelog first.

Helix Ultimate v1.1.2 Changelog:

  • New: Font Awesome 5
  • New: Option to add “alt” tag to the blog feature image
  • New: "404" position to the error page
  • Update: Coming soon and site offline pages enhanced
  • Update: Blog social share improved
  • Update: Google web font list
  • Update: Google Fonts importer improved
  • Fix: JS console error after JavaScript compression
  • Fix: Sticky header bounce issue
  • Fix: frontend-edit.css file loading error
  • Fix: User registration page T&C CSS issue
  • Fix: Login/Signup page radio button issue
  • Fix: Login/Signup page tooltip disappear issue

Upgraded to Font Awesome 5

You have been using Font Awesome 4 in Helix Ultimate so far. But with today’s update, you will be able to use Font Awesome 5 icons. Font Awesome has upgraded its version. Now they want the users to use the new Font Awesome 5. It comes with 3 different icon styles, a separate category for brand icons, and many more. You can enjoy anything that Font Awesome 5 offers you. For all of the icons you used of Font Awesome 4, we made it compatible with Font Awesome 5 with a shims file.

Page Enhancement

Having the system to use both Offline and Coming Soon pages separately, you can offer the Offline login form on the Coming Soon page. We've enhanced both of the pages to meet your needs with them.

SEO Enhancement ("alt" Tag)

Having the “alt” tag with images on your site helps search engines recognize the images. Using images with the right “alt” tag will increase your chances to rank higher on search engine result pages. For the feature images, it will add a great value since they hold the most relevant images of blog posts. So, this enhancement is going to improve the overall SEO score of your posts on the site.

We thank all of you who helped us decide on the features and reported issues. Many of you have been waiting for this update. Now, it’s time to update Helix Ultimate and start using Font Awesome 5 with other cool improvements. Please share your thoughts with us. Good luck!

To add more we had to fix bugs first.
Then new features can be introduced soon.

After so many months I thought it would be a big boom and so modestly. Thanks for the corrections.

Good to see bug fixes but the new features are quite underwhelming.

Can I ask as a previous paying customer how I can contribute and communicate with other Joomshaper users and the community? Since my membership expired I have no access to the support forums. I realise there's a Facebook group but not everyone has Facebook therefore seems unfairi think you really need to consider a free (no support) section of your forum.

It depends on what help do you need. For commercial template, extension or free Helix.

HI Paul,

I'm talking about offering support for non paying users of your templates and framework. This could include general questions, pre sales questions or suggestions etc.

As a Joomshaper user and past (expired) customer there's no place for me to ask these questions, or talk with the Joomshaper community other than Facebook - this is a huge disadvantage to potential customers, and disappointing for past customers.

For example. people could ask questions in a 'free' section of your existing forum and perhaps have them answered by another user. This forum would explicitly state that...

HI Paul,

As a Joomshaper user and past (expired) customer there's no place for me to ask these questions, or talk with the Joomshaper community other than Facebook - this is a huge disadvantage to potential customers, and disappointing for past customers.

For example. people could ask questions in a 'free' section of your existing forum and perhaps have them answered by another user. This forum would explicitly state that support is not offered by Joomshaper, hence wouldn't affect your workload.

I understand you want everyone to pay for support but we should also be a community, isn't one of your key believe 'collaboration'? This would align with that.

I know there's a live chat feature on your site but this doesn't offer interaction between the community which is a huge disadvantage.

I think your products are good, and your support has always been great but this would be a welcomed addition for a lot of people i'm sure.

If this isn't the best place to suggest this feature please let me know who I can contact.

Thanks!

Hello,
Thank's for the update specially for Font Awesome 5!

2 questions:
- Where do you activate Font Awesome 5 in Helix template (not SP Pagebuilder)
- Do we have to hard code (insert in php) the Pro license for Font Awesome 5?

Regards,
Marc

Thanks for your work!
I think there is a bug. After updating to the new version of helix ultimate the icons of social share in articles have dissapeared and only rectangles are shown. Is there any upgrade guide for font awesome? I cannot find something in the template options.

I lost a lot of customisation and see this Joomla blog post about that too https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=713&;t=977407 would be good if Helix work differently and kept your customisations in Joomla standardised way

I have some problems on one site with helix ultimate 1.1.2 . Some icons like the fa-bars not showing. Other sites all is good.
I tryed to figure out where a conflict can be but i cant found one.

It is only showing a square with F0C9 in it, what would be the right content.
Have reinstalled template, reupload fonts, cleaning caches and css files...but nothing worked for me.
I have testet it on live and dev server and its the same on both....so no server specific issue.

Any suggestions?

It's a good news BUT we have a lot of icons issues after update to 1.1.2 :-/ We have clear cache front and back still no icons. FA5 must be an option not a replacment. Is there any reliable fix for this ?
Thanks
