Required Fields Validation Issue

Asked by Pawel P 2 months ago Last activity 2 months ago

I noticed an inconsistency in the validation behavior of the form.

Some required fields correctly display a browser validation tooltip (the popup message) when they are left empty. This makes it clear to the user which field needs to be completed.

However, other fields that are also marked as required behave differently. They are validated and prevent the form from being submitted, but no validation tooltip is displayed. As a result, users cannot easily identify which required field is missing. The only indication is that the cursor is placed in the empty field and starts blinking.

Could you please check why the validation tooltip is shown for some required fields but not for others, and ensure that all required fields provide a consistent visual indication when validation fails?

I have attached a screenshot showing an example of the issue.

Thank you.

After further testing, it seems that the validation behavior is inconsistent across the form.

My impression is that full validation is only working correctly for a small number of fields near the end of the form. For example, if a form contains 10, 20, or even just 6 required fields, only the last few fields (approximately 5) appear to display validation messages correctly.

I have also noticed differences depending on how the user navigates through the form:

  • If I leave a required field and move to the next field using the mouse, the validation message below the field often does not appear.
  • If I move between fields using the Tab key, the validation message may appear.
  • This behavior works for the "Nazwisko" and Email fields, but does not work consistently for the "Imię" and "T
  • Telefon" fields.

Additionally:

  • Validation messages appear below the "Imię", "Nazwisko", and Email fields when using the Tab key.
  • The "Telefon" field does not display the same validation message behavior.
  • Some fields display only the red validation text.
  • Some fields display both the red validation text and the browser tooltip ("Please fill out this field").
  • Some fields display no message at all and only receive focus during validation.
  • Fields react differently depending on whether they are empty, contain invalid data, previously contained data, or are being navigated via mouse versus keyboard.

The most problematic fields seem to be "Imię" and "Telefon". In these cases, validation typically only moves the cursor/focus to the field without displaying any visible error message. On the other hand, in the Required Criteria section, all validation messages appear to work correctly and consistently.

Since all of these fields belong to the same form, I would expect validation behavior and user feedback to be consistent across all required fields.

Could you please investigate whether different validation mechanisms are being applied to different fields within the form?

Thank you.

Yes, but it doesn't work. Please find attachments.
E.g. "Telefon" is configured correctly but skipps all validation rules from the form icluding
Phone Input Pattern: ^+(?:\d{1,3}[-.\s]?)?(?\d{1,4})?[-.\s]?\d{1,10}$

User can type any characters any your form will accept it.
