Undocumented but working: Custom CSS file in templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom/ folder

Asked by Peter Hunkeler 1 month ago Last activity 1 month ago

Hi
I inherited this site some years ago, and at that time, the site's custom CSS was stored in a file called

templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom/tvm_custom_styles.css

I searched the documentation but the only thing I've found was saying that custom CSS code should be stored in file

templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom.css

While our CSS file is working as desired since it is included in the HTML as

<link href="/templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom/tvm_custom_styles.css" rel="stylesheet">

I wonder if this is simply supported for compatibility?
What were, or better are the complete rules for custom CSS file? Is any .CSS file in subfolder ´css/custom´ considered a CSS file to be added to the HTML?

Hi,

Yes, the existing CSS file will continue to work. Helix Ultimate will load the CSS file from the templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom/ directory as it is already being included in the page.

Since this is an existing implementation, there is no need to move or rename the file as long as it is working correctly. You can continue using:

templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom/tvm_custom_styles.css

However, for new custom CSS, we recommend using the standard custom.css file mentioned in the current documentation.

Best regards

Thanks. I will switch to the newer standard eventually.

In last HU update we added "extra version pattern" so browser will load current custom.css file each time without cache problems.

Example

/templates/shaper_helixultimate/css/custom.css?v=1787812345
