Blog Layout

Testing Shaper Cuisine template. It seems it is not possible to add images from the front end usinging the Helix blog options.

Also, we would like to use the articles addon on another page and this does not format correctly using the blog layout provided.

Is there a way to get back to a more simple blog layout so that the Helix blog option works to add photos and the articles addon functions corretly. i.e a more standard Joomla blog layout.

Hi Toufiq,

Login info provided as hidden info.

The idea on this site is for people to add to the blog from the front end (using Helix for image) The What's On section is to use the articles addon just using a different article category so people can also add from front end. This currently produces a square image and the links do not work. We would like it to put the image in the same proportions as uploaded and link to a normal article WITHOUT the date showing. This is because the large published date may be confused with the events date.

So our solution would be not to use the template formatting for blogs - just the usual Joomla layout but we can't work out how to do this other than using another template for those pages.

As usual - any help appreciated. Many thanks Stay safe and well

PS - Incredible vegetarian food on this site!!

Hi there,

I have solved using this file replaced on this file location.

  1. Download the attachment and replace the below file location templates/shaper_cuisine/html/com_content/form/

edit.zip

-Thanks

Thanks Toufq but that did not work.

Assume you meant the /shaper_cuisine folder (not newedge). Replaced the edit file but this still does not allow adding an image to a blog using the Helix option. Pic uploads but does not display.

Also the articles addon does not work with this template. Links just go back to home page and not article.

Maybe the answer is for us just to use a different template for the blog pages.

Thanks again Toufiq,

Unfortunately, three issues remain with this template. I have added a link to a pdf so you can see them.

We don't want the large date format anyway for the blog so maybe we'll just usre a Helix 3 template layout for those pages if it can't be fixed, but interested to see if we can get the Articles addon to work.

Best regards and stay virus free.

Thanks Toufiq for fast response,

That solves a PART of the problem only.

  1. There is a temporary link at Contacts/InsertTEMP to test front end uploading. If you go here and click on Helix blog options you will see that all the options appear which is confusing for the user.

  2. The Articles Addon does not work. If you go to What's on you will see that the articles listed there do not link correctly. Also the picture are square format and there is no option to change this since the usual Helix blog options are missing from this template. (Check blog options in template to see.)

Thanks

Front end Helix blog option has an issue. Until Helix solved this issue, i am not able to assist you. That's why need to wait for the Helix3 update. Thanks

OK, thanks Toufiq.

I think it's just this template though. If we try using the standard Helix 3 template for the pages in question, we get the option to change the blog settings and the Articles addon works OK in standard Helix 3 also. Just these issues in the Shaper Cuisine template.

Hope this helps. We'll go with our work-arounds for now.

One final question on this issue if we may.

We cannot set the images in logs to link to full articles using the cuisine template as there are NO blog options. Is it possible just to turn on the blog option somehow so we can link the pictures?

The Cusine template override the blog options. If you wanna default design with feature, please let me know. I will revert with default feature. Thanks

Really appreciate all your help on this one Toufiq. We managed to get an accepatble workaround by deleting the edit.php and changing a bit of css to modify the front end form.

This works fine but the only thing we cannot do is to make the photos link to the article. https://www.sarries.co.uk/contact/insert

So, if you can revert back to the default blog features for us that would be fantastic.

Thanks Toufiq. The layout is good and solves the issues with this template. The only thing I cannot seem to get to work is linking from the pictures in the blog but not a big issue as there is now a more distinctibve read more button.

Great support as usual. Stay safe.
