I am using the Edulif template.

How can I add a new block of type slideshow. I can see the blocks and I can see insert.. but how do I select where to insert it?

You can import the pre-made block Slideshow and use on your site. Add a new section and then import. There are CSS modification and settings for the slideshow. But maybe on the latest version it create some issue, You can follow this forum post below:
