Why is a menu heading not treated as a menu item when hovering over it? See the example below, all of my menu items that link to a page will experience the hover directives but the one that is a menu heading does not.
In the example the menu item GIVE is a menu heading and you can see it does not get decorated when hovered over.

Sorry for your experience.
Actually menu heading type menues, holds a different class, moreover, doesn't get submenu opening ability also while you are looking on the offcanvas menu in mobile. This is why it's better to change the menu item type to URL, and place a hash(#) in the URL field.
Hope this helps anyways!
Note: you can decorate it with custom CSS though!
