I am wondering if it possible to embed a Joomla article in a page? I can embed an article category but can't seem to embed a single article.

By default it's not possible, but you can download and install module: HD-ArticleMod - that allows that, then you can use that module inside Module addon.
We had similar topics in the past with that same answer, also mine.
